The reason for an Optifine ban is because it changes the game too much. If you look into Optifine there is much more than what you just mentioned. Off the top of my head I can think of the following things:
- For one, there's lazy chunk loading
- there's also clear water
- Fast math (gives u more reach)
- disable fog
There r more things listed in the actual rules, but these are thing things I could think of off the top of my head. The reason mods are banned in speedrunning is because they can change the game from its Vanilla form. Optifine is one of those mods and is only allowed for performance boosts. Things such as fog and clear water are easy to detect in runs, but fast math and lazy chunk loading are harder to detect.
The reason why Optifine is allowed in the first place is to even out hardware difference. Since an alternative was found (sodium), Optifine has been banned. Basically, if an alternative comes out for 1.14, then you should expect Optifine to be banned there as well
i have a low end pc and i can only run minecraft in optifine and fabric{sodium}. in sumbit run menu there is no option for fabric. which category should i select?
people are lazy and don't wanna install a mod on their computers so they whine because THEY can't run a game. not like we made their pc suck.
