Hello, I'm Spymaster and creator of the fandom Wiki for the Lands of Lore series. I'm not a speedrunner myself, but I have a huge amount of respect for the craft. I don't know how active this forum is currently, but I would love to have any and all input from the community. We've grown to +1,000 articles and pictures and I try to update weekly, if not every day. I think it's fair to say it is currently the #1 resource for all things Lands of Lore related, but there's still much work to be done. Any insight that could be used to improve and enhance our understanding of the games would be greatly appreciated. Please check it out when you have the time. Thank you.
Well, there has been one run submitted. That should be an indication of interest level. That said, I'm considering doing a run. Also, I am starting a collection of LoL:G sound bites, since I find Sean Masterson's voice work to be fantastic, and Vincent Schiavelli's cameo is pretty awesome, etc. I'll check out the site (I'm sure I've been there in the past) and see what we can contribute. The fellow with the run surely has, or had, an intimate understanding of the mechanics of this game. The run is astounding.
Yeah, that run is what initially brought me here to begin with. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how he pulled off that wall glitch in the Huline Village.
Unfortunatly, this Wiki has been a series of shots in the dark. For example, I've talked to series writter Rick "Coco" Gush many times and he's such a cool dude and I've got an interview with Paul Bastardo next week, but then I'll make post in the GoG forums or the one German LoL fansite that's still operational and... crickets. I don't mind this being a labor of love though. I just wish I could find more people who matched my passion for this series.
This lonely run is really impressive ! I used to speedrun the game when I was younger and I did not know you could by-pass walls and climb cliffs with the thor axe ... And this technic seems also to allow you not to take too much damages from the fall at the elevator (in the spider cave). Does someone know how does this work ?
Even weirder, the buttons trick in the huline temple ... We should try to use TAS tools to understand how it works.
In any case, this run clearly has a good execution and a good comprehension of severeal game mechanics. But as the community is small, I'm pretty sure it's hugely upgradable. By exemple, I wonder if they is a way to trick the game to use an items instead of another ... Or maybe, to create ones you should not be able to, thank to the mixing feature ... It would be crazy if you were able to trick the game creating the Dreamstone with a mix of two miscellaneous while having SPECIFICALLY, I don't know ... Precise coordonates while casting the lvl 3 of a spell ? This sound ridiculous, but all games have issues like that. They are largely discovered when the community is huge, and rarly when it's that little that for this game. That's why I'm pretty sure there is A LOT to discover
Oh wow! SpymasterCosades your site inspired me to make a Evil-Luther playthrough. Which then motivated me to do a speedrun. Generally this site has a ton of usefull info. And as far as I know only a handful of things are not mention. Really great work! <3
I used the same strats as Spec, but my time is garbage ^^
However I could give some inside to the skips Spec found/used. Eventhough i don't really understand why catching a the axe-of-the-long-arm or the empty-hand-dagger allows the player to briefly clip into walls.
The elevator skip on the other hand uses the fact that briefly clipping into the wall reset your falling distance, and therefore the insta-kill falling height is never reached.
