Thanks to the amazing runners in the JP community, with runs that were the stuff of legend. Especially Muguet (who had an amazing PS2 JP time of 1:32:54 IGT way back in 2008 that blew away everyone's minds), ICO (who quietly pushed the PS2 JP WR to 1:29:06 with slower strats in 2011, and had a commentary guide with his vid), and Karekuza (who held the PS3 WR for over 5 1/2 years with his amazing 1:28:36 that seemed completely untouchable for SO long, and in many ways is still the better run).
