Greetings all!
Whether you're a veteran or new arrival in the HOURS speedrunning community, I hope to give a warm introduction as the category's super-mod, introduce the game, and go over my hopes for the future of this community.
As for yours truly, I'm just a regular 18-something yr. old who has had the pleasure of being part of the Roblox community for a good portion of my life. I've seen the heyday of really good Roblox games come and go, and have had words of respect and admiration for many.
However, it was only over the past 6 months during which I discovered HOURS that I feel that I've truly found a game that exemplifies what the platform is capable of: HOURS.
This game, built by none other than the super-skilled SentientSupper (aka superrun100), is an absolute exercise in tying together all the things that makes a truly transcendent experience in replayable hack-and-slash, not to mention being an homage to the history of Roblox in general.
For all of this, I'm really into the idea of having HOURS recognized for what it is: a masterpiece in aesthetic, mechanical, and general game design in the Roblox single-player genre.
To me, there's no better way to do this than to foster a community around pushing this game to its limits. I'll be doing this through three primary ways:
-
Maintaining a robust and accountable standard-of-proof for all runs submitted to the HOURS Roblox category.
-
Set up a nifty Discord server for people to gather and discuss strategies/have a platform for their streams.
-
And finally, add a host of ethical and experienced moderators on both our Speedrun.com category and our future Discord so that we can manage increasing numbers of speedrunners and community members.
All of these things I hope to have accomplished by year's end, which I feel is more than enough time considering my currently open-ended yet demanding IRL schedule.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please feel free to share them here, or direct them to me at Lumpian#7779. I'll be happy to help.
