Today Speedrun.com have added a feature to help you see which of your runs are at risk of Twitch Highlight deletion (see the blog post).
As mentioned in the last post, any new Twitch submissions will be rejected.
We'd appreciate if you make your runs safe before they are deleted on 2025-04-19. We will not be retroactively rejecting runs with missing Twitch Highlights, but we would appreciate your help to preserve our boards' history.
What do I do?
You can see your at-risk runs by navigating to the Pending tab on your profile, then selecting Video at risk.
For each at-risk run, you can Mark as safe only if you are sure you will never delete the Highlight to make space; otherwise, you need to reupload to YouTube or another host.
To move runs to YouTube, you can follow these steps:
- Open the page of the at-risk run.
- Click the URL to open the Highlight on Twitch.
- Next to the Share button, press the options menu and select Edit.
- On the Video Manager page, press Export. If you are prompted, allow Twitch to access your Youtube channel.
- Enter the details; ensure the video is set to Public, and DO NOT select Split the video in to 15 minute segments.
- Now in Youtube's Channel Content manager, find the exported video and select Get Shareable Link.
- Back on the Speedrun.com page for your run, select Edit Run and update the video URL.
- After submitting, press Mark as Safe. This tells verifiers your run is a resubmission & it will be verified quicker.
Twitch Highlights
Due to Twitch's changes to remove highlights, we are no longer accepting Twitch Highlights as a video source. You can migrate highlights to YouTube in the Video Producer, or use the SpeedrunRescueScript to download your runs.
We will not be removing verified runs whose videos are no longer available thanks to this unforeseen change, but we request that you update your runs to a permanent URL. When editing runs, please add a note to the end of the description to help verifiers re-verify runs as quickly as possible, such as the text:
// Twitch Highlight Resubmission
Breaks
We are now allowing runners to take breaks in some longer categories.
- Breaks may be up to 10 minutes, and you may take multiple breaks at once.
- Breaks are taken on the File Select screen with the timer paused. Pause the timer when opening the File Select Screen, end the break by selecting the file and unpausing.
- The final time will be adjusted to ensure no time is gained by taking a break.
The following categories are eligible for breaks (all thresholds given are Loadless time):
All Achievements
- Up to 4 breaks in the first 7 hours.
- After 7 hours, any number of breaks.
112% APB, 107% AB, 106% TE, 100% TE, All Bosses, Godhome Ending, Pantheon 5 Boss Order
- Up to 2 breaks within the first 3 hours.
- Breaks may not be taken during colosseums, White Palace, and after entering Pantheon 1.
- After 3 hours, any number of breaks.
A full changelog of the rules can be seen here
A new autosplitter/load remover for Windows, Mac and Linux has been made available for run submissions. For information and installation instructions, see https://github.com/AlexKnauth/hollowknight-autosplit-wasm.
The timing rules have been updated; new submissions must now declare a "Load Remover" variable as follows:
- "None" if no autosplitter was used
- "Default" for the standard autosplitter in Livesplit
- "WASM" for the new cross-platform autosplitter
While the WASM autosplitter has been tested over several months, it is still possible that timing discrepancies may be found once it is actively in use. SRC mods will decide how to handle these on a case-by-case basis, but our preferred solution will be to retime/penalize WASM runs to be in line with the standard autosplitter.
- The airwalk rule has been clarified to include maintaining Sprintmaster walking speed midair as an example of illegal benefit.
- A rule has been added to clearly ban clipping underwater.
- Guidelines have been added for major glitches that save less than 1 second and provide no other benefits to receive a 2 second penalty, rather than rejection. Additional details on what circumstances qualify for penalties are included in the rules.
For more details, see the NMG rules and latest changes.
Rules Change
Title screen may now be shown at any point during a run, so long as you add a timestamp with your submission. IL runs are unaffected.
You may resubmit runs rejected under the old ruling if you wish for them to be verified.
New Ruling Text
Video evidence must show the Title Screen either at the start of the run, or at a timestamp given in the run description. The Title Screen must be clearly visible, with a legible version number. IL runs may omit the timestamp, but must still show the Title Screen.
