Very true :) I look forward to your run submission on Amiga :)
Hi,
alright I am atm practicing the Amiga version I think in a couple of days I will submit a run. So can you please add the Amiga as platform, that would be awesome.
Cheers and Thanks
Well, there's an issue with this: following the release of the 25th anniversary edition, every MS-DOS original copy was removed from abandonware websites. And the 25th anniversary edition corrected the gate glitch (even when launching the so-called original game).
I personally still have an original copy of the game, but it contains the copy protection check, which is very annoying when speedrunning. So if we want to speedrun the original MS-DOS version, it would be limited to people who still have it and imo should require an autosplitter which stops time when solving the anti-piracy check.
The copy protection in the DOS version is triggered when you start a level, and again when you teleport. Once you pass those checks, it doesn't bug you again. So, enter the password for level 6 to trigger the 1st check. Once you pass that and you're in game, throw the receiver and use the control to teleport to trigger the 2nd check. Pass that one and you're done. Just exit out to the main menu and start the run as you would.
And yes, the "classic" version in the 25th anniversary release is the 1993 version in which one of the glitches was fixed (it's functionally equivalent to the SNES version).
Can the game full admin or series admin add MS-DOS/DOS as a platform (shown below the title, and beside "Flashback series") please? : P It's actually missing there (after 3 years or so? : P)
oh cool, it's the guy that randomly comments on the thread and doesn't even run the game :D
No worries. I added the platform and updated VelCheran's run accordingly.
tbh I requested this game will be changed to Flashback (Sega/SNES) Once that happens this will be a board for Genesis/Sega CD & SNES. I mainly run those ports when it comes to other games and have the most knowledge of those consoles. If anyone wants to open a new board for other ports, Be my guest. From what I gathered since I opened the boards. It seems Genesis and SNES has the most activity overall.
That's fair. In that case, I could mod a separate board for some of the others, at least DOS & Amiga I guess. Kinda speculative, given that there's only 1 posted run so far, but whatever it is, nbd.
Ya, in the end It's a lot of clutter. I'm even working on separating Another World because that game has just as many ports.
For Prince of Persia we have every port on the same leaderboard, except for SNES because this port has a completely different levelset. But it's up to you I guess ;)
I do it for Another World so I feel ya. Also does Prince of Persia have 80 ports of this game like Flashback? :b Like I said, the board has been up for years and Genesis and SNES are the only two ports that actually showed some numbers.
Prince of Persia has a LOT of ports. You can have an overview on those videos:
On the leaderboard, we currently have MS-DOS, NES, Apple II, TG-16, Gameboy Color, Sega Master System, Amiga, Mega Drive and Genesis :p They were put as platforms, not categories, though.
In this case it makes much more sense since every port has at least one or more runs on the board while flashback really only showed attention for Genesis and SNES in the last 3 years since I opened the board.
Decided to put it back. No need to spread it all out. Thanks for your opinions on this matter.
