Currently, I accept only console runs of Goofy's Fun House due to noted load time differences between console and emulator. However, I am open to having my mind changed if there would be a good enough debate as to why emulator should be included and/or there's enough interest from potential emulator runners of this game.
Whether you feel it should be included as a separate group of categories or that it should be included alongside console or even a different option I may not have considered, I look forward to hearing any thoughts on what could be done to fairly allow emulator runs.
Hi, I would like to speedrun Disney's Goofy's Fun House as it has been an absolute childhood favorite of mine. I have had nice memories of playing the game, and it makes me wish I was a kid again. I was wondering if emulators could be allowed as I currently do not have a PS1/2/3, my parents had thrown it out many years ago.
I do not think emulators will make a huge impact on loading times, the FPS still remains the same (unless the speedrun is TAS). Emulators would also allow new speedrunners to speedrun Disney's Goofy's Fun House as there is no longer a need to purchase the game or have a PS1/2/3.
I believe emulators should be introduced alongside console categories. If you need me to add more onto my case on why emulators should be allowed, feel free to message me or to reply to this post. As I said before, Disney's Goofy's Fun House has been a childhood favorite of mine and I would absolutely love to speedrun it.
Hello, Advin! I apologize for the rather late reply.
I do agree at this point that the option to submit emulator runs should be allowed, but(and I think you're in agreement with this but not certain) due to the difference in load times(my testing from before showed that 5-10 seconds was shaved off per load screen, of which there's a decent number of them, when running on emulator) runs on emulator will be in their own set of categories separate from console runs.
I may introduce restrictions on which emulators are allowed to be used if I find any potential issues, but for now I will be lax on any such restrictions.
Edit: I have now added in Emulator categories alongside Console ones! I am open to additional feedback as to how these categories should be handled in the future, although it may take me a bit to get back to anyone as seen here. =p
