Hi all, I'm hoping that this game still has some runners out there. Yet I see an issue that might be causing others to decide not to run it. (I'm in that position myself atm).
Is there a possibility that a NG (New Game) mode without the + can be added? Or some kind of rules that will allow a player from the beginning?
Speaking for myself, I have a new account set up and don't want to have to max the game before I can even begin running it.
Maybe there are some categories that can be added to help both new players to the game, new speed runners, and long time max characters of the game? Something other than just NG+?
Just a thought. :-) I'm new to running myself, I just created my account last week, so I'm learning a lot.
I think this game would be fun to run.
Thanks!
I could upload my save for Ultimate Edition on Steam if that sounds reasonable?
So New Game is kind of a thing. FIndlestick recently made some discoveries that would make the category interesting, but quite brutal to run well. Without his infinite jump, the category is very bland in many places, and converges into a similar route with way worse resources after double jump. I have aspirations to look into it more later on. It would also rely heavily on item luck, with possible revisits to resource dense levels to speed up farming.
If you can get a run completed in under... 4 hours let's say, I might be willing to make a board for it. Rules set would be similar to NG+. Must be a fresh file with no EXP or items unlocked.
What you say makes perfect sense. It does seem like it would be more appropriate to speed run after all power ups are unlocked. I played the game back when it first released so it's been a while. Plus, Mirror of Fate and Part 2 are still on my to do list and I've managed to avoid spoilers and really wanna complete the whole story. Thus I think I'll just work on the game causally until I unlock and upgrade, then try to run it. Thanks for your reply. I agree it makes since that way. Here's hoping more people will get involved with running this title. :-)
As a follow up, I did a really sloppy NG run just to try some things out. I managed a 4:35 so sub 4 seems reasonable to show merit in the category. I do think with really good execution something like 2:40 should be on the table. I do plan on working on this at some point. Infinite Jump is difficult for me to do at this time.
I've been watching some of your past streams on Twitch. You'd certainly be a challenge to beat. :-)
LoS1 is the hardest speedgame I've had to learn. Now that I understand, I can teach people though to make it easier. I won't pretend my times are unbeatable; they aren't. Someone will have to go in the tank to do so, or be Findlestick or satvara.
