I realized it was possible to beat the levels without slowing down so long as you reacted to the spawns quickly enough. This is very difficult for some of the spawns because of how tiny and hard to see they are but it works. I came close to killing the run at the end of stage three because of the small thumbtack thingy.
Played on RGB modded NES console using EverDrive N8 Pro.
