Hello there!
I've been watching speedruns (mainly during events such as GDQ), and have been interested in getting started speedrunning. I remembered No Time to Explain Remastered, as it was a game I felt I was competent in when I played it a few times through two years ago, and decided I wanted to get started speedrunning that game.
I never kept proper time of how quickly I beat it back then, but my fastest time had to have been around 50 minutes. I'll be practicing the game a lot over the next few months, and I had some questions!
Do you all have suggestions on what the best timers are out there? I saw a few on the "Resources" page of the main speedrun.com site, but it seems to be old and rarely ever updated, so I wasn't sure if they were still the recommended timers.
For running, I checked the rules for the different categories and it didn't specify if runs were required to be done using either a keyboard and mouse, or a controller. Does it matter what I use to run with? I played both ways and prefer having a controller in my hands, but don't want to practice with a controller if that's not the "right" way to run.
Looking forward to hopefully be a part of this community!

Hello Amallah and welcome! First off, I use Livesplit like most other speedrunners out there. I never have issues and it's quite customisable. I know a few that use W-split, but personally I've never tried that myself. Secondly, it doesn't matter wether you use controller or keyboard + mouse. I like playing keyboard more, and feel like I have more control of the character and the gun, but if you'd rather play with controller go for it ^^ If you have any more questions, just ask :)
Thanks WarDrums! Super helpful :) I'll get started practicing, and hopefully will have a run good enough to submit within a few weeks!
