We are pleased to announce the launch of the "World of Warcraft Archive Series" on speedrun.com. This new category has been established with a sole mission in mind: preserving the rich history and legacy of WoW speedruns.

Why the Archive Series? World of Warcraft, in its decades-long journey, has seen countless expansions, patches, and changes. While these shifts redefine our gameplay experiences, they also influence speedrunning routes, strategies, and timings. The Archive Series aims to safeguard the incredible efforts and achievements of our speedrunners through various expansions and patches.

How Does it Work? Upon the conclusion of an expansion, speedruns associated with that era will move into the Archive Series. This separation ensures that our primary leaderboard remains a competitive space for the game's current state, without overshadowing the commendable feats achieved in the past.

Mid-Expansion Leaderboard Resets Recognizing the transformative nature of some patches, we've instituted a community-driven voting mechanism. speedrunners can vote on whether a particular patch has brought about changes significant enough to warrant a leaderboard reset. This ensures that the leaderboards remain relevant and competitive, reflecting the current state of the game.
