two more category suggestions: all characters (from fresh save till all non-secret characters are unlocked) max upgrades (from fresh save till all upgrades in the power-ups screen are maxed out)
a suggestion for clearing up rules on existing categories: the all achievements one has two sections, secret and no secret, without the difference being explained anywhere in the rules, and since there are no achievements for unlocking secret characters (which would've been the only self-explanatory one to me) i have no idea where to submit a potential all achievements run
edit: if you want i can help with moderating/managing full game categories
i would love to see a endless mode with different category example hyper mode hurry mode arcanas mode limit break and inverse & have a category to separate if they want to combine the mode types like example if a player wants to do hurry mode with limit break and inverse mode and hyper mode but another player just wants hurry and hyper mode activated then it should be separate also there should be a category for twitch chat just so if a player is streaming and twitch participates the streamer has to describe it as chat is choosing players or something to that point just to get streamers chat enjoying the chat and i personally would do is before i end make sure the viewers that participate will be listed.....i know this is alot to do but think it could work .....the twitch chat category may not work
Super late with my idea, and tbh I'm not sure if it's actually possible, but here I am: Would be cool to reach developers and ask them to make a map/mod like "Fast Reaper" (category name?), where you can summon the Reaper earlier by doing something specific. Maybe it can be something like killing 10k enemies, have number evolved weapons, killing a few mini-bosses or something else. I've bought this game 2 day ago, and I'm not quite sure what's possible in it yet, but I immediately saw almost endless category opportunities this game can provide. I was so excited that I even decided to write my first comment on this website, to share my thoughts with you :P
I've never tried to speedrun any game before, but I'm following some games now and then, and I hope this game will have a bright future, including in-game updates/commercial success and a big healthy speedrunning community around it.
Whitehand% Play on Inlaid Library with Hyper, Hurry, Arcana, Inverse. No eggs obviously and any character that is unlocked in the secrets menu is a no-no, also no Queen Sigma or DLC content of any sort. All Powerups should be used. Seal Victory sword, Flames of Misspell, and all DLC weapons (Just the unevolved versions). No sealing anything else. No picking any of these banned weapons or their evolutions if you get a Candybox. You may lock to a limited amount of weapons if you wish. Any character from Antonio to Zi-assunta are valid as none of them are secret/DLC/Sigma. The goal is simply to get to and kill Avatar Infernus as fast as possible, time starts the second the Arcana menu pops up and ends the second Infernus dies. Time spent in chest animations, level-up choices, Arcana picks and while playing the piano are all part of the timer obviously. Feels like it might actually be a pretty fun category, I just did a run myself with Pugnala and got around 8 minutes in time, definitely fumbled a few times though and I am far from a true speedrunner myself. :)
There are so many categories on here with no recorded times, or just a couple, and we are thinking of making more categories? Unpopular opinion but I don't see the point. I get that it can seem boring to see the same characters over and over, but speedrunning is about being the fastest. If you go and look at Mario Kart or something like that, there aren't different categories for each character. That would just be so much. Same here if we did something like that.
I feel the same way with the comments about having modes for hyper, hurry, etc, and any combination of those. If we did that, it would be 64 more categories. Then if we split those by Normal Character, Moonspell, Special, etc, we're getting HUNDREDS of new categories while there are still loads of current categories with no entries.
I like how we have it broken down by character categories right now, with the normal, special, moonspell, etc, because that is sort of similar to the CC groups in Mario Kart, or other games with different speed settings or something. The 10k gold and 25,000 kills are interesting categories that I could take or leave, but the Normal Levels Marathon is pretty fun. Could be neat to marathon other subsets of levels, and it would only add a couple more categories.
Bottom line, my opinion is that adding categories for different characters is way too much, same with categories for different level settings. Before we start adding loads of new categories, or any, we should probably run some of the dozens that have 0 entries.
I think with the addition of so many Adventures, that each one should have a 100% completion, and by that I only mean the tasks needed in the adventure (not unlocking every character or getting all weapons/evolutions, etc.). I think it would be interesting because it forces players to all pick from the same character pool, so it puts everyone on even ground.
I also think time to kill all 4 capes in the applicable levels would be fun.
Might as well add an increased number of kills category too (maybe 50K or 100K).
Regardless, I've been loving this game lately and now want to try for some of the current categories!
Leda% works well as a speedrun because nowhere along the way are you, waiting for something like the "boss at 25 minutes". It can definitely be pushed under an hour, around 55 minutes if optimized maybe a little less I wouldn't be able to say for sure.
Reach level 20 on mad forest
Reach level 40 on inlaid library
Reach level 60 on Dairy Plant - I've unlocked Poppea for her speed and song of mana, which is probably worth whatever time loss it creates reaching level 60 since it's a long walk to the bottom of Gallo Tower
Kill Leda in Gallo Tower - Thousand edge probably needs to be the priority. Wings obviously help with time. King bible with duplicator helps keep you safe so you can stand still and unload on Leda.
It's a pretty approachable run that isn't a huge time investment and ends with one of the cooler, adventure/boss type secrets. And there's lots of room for variances in people's time especially in Gallo Tower. I wanted something quicker than any% and since you don't need the yellow sign to unlock Leda this ends up working well. Maybe it doesn't go on the leaderboard but thought I'd share for anyone looking for something that plays more like a "main category" but shorter than the existing ones.
Hey dear Vampire Hunters,
As the new DLC dropped, I decided to get my shit together and finally make the new category, Friends%, as suggested by a user on the Discord server. If you want to run it, be careful to read the rules as the category is quite a bit different than the other categories we
