Some notes regarding the in-game timer.
Currently, we use both RTA timing and IGT timing. These are effectively two different categories of speedrun.
RTA timing starts on the frame in which the training zone appears, immediately after clicking "Play", and stops on the frame where the "level complete" splash overlay appears over the gameplay in Zone 4-3, just before the level complete screen.
IGT timing is read from the "Current Time" statistic given on the Zone 4-3 level complete screen.
If you have any opinions or questions regarding the timing system, please discuss in this forum thread.
Two notable points:
-
The time-manipulation abilities in-game affect the IGT.
-
I don't know what happens to IGT if the game lags. Does this give laggy players an advantage? Lag is clearly undesirable from both a spectator and player perspective.
Edit: I have now created a speedrun.com page specifically for Castle Crashing the Beard HD. You can find it here: https://www.speedrun.com/castle_crashing_the_beard_hd#Any
maxis2417's run of the remaster of this game looked interesting, so I gave it a run.
How are we going to deal with the remaster? It'd be cool to have a leaderboard somewhere. I've got a run of the original and I plan to run the remaster as well.
After quite a few attempts, I got a 2:58:581. I considered Iris instead of Sam, since you don't get experience while in super-form and Iris can interrupt Tom's eye-laser during which he is normally invincible, but I ended up deciding that Sam is indeed probably the fastest choice.
I don't currently have a recording but I'll probably try to record an attempt
Just so you know...

The TFT ones are much better quality compared to the ROC ones I think.
I would like to be able to search games in a compressed format. I would like to be able to quickly scroll through games to get inspiration on what game to run next. The old games page layout allowed me to do this. The new games page layout has a maximum page size of 100, images that take time to load, and the games are not in as compressed a format.
Is there a way to revert to the old game page format?
This is the page I am talking about: https://www.speedrun.com/games
