I have category extension runs that haven't been verified in over a year! I don't think that's normal...
No, it modifies gameplay features that could potentially give you an unfair advantage over others. The goal of allowing speedrunning mods is usually to improve performance while still keeping the overall experience as vanilla as possible (or just add convenience, like the timer mode to make timing easier). That's far from being the goal of the mod you are proposing.
I think it would be really cool if there was an additionnal category that would be a mix of "Combined Any% Glitchless" and "All Versions". To get a time in this category, you would have to have a verified run in every version in a certain range (for example: a 1.0 run, a 1.1 run, a 1.2 run, etc).
This would be different from "Combined Any% Glitchless" because you would need a verified PB in all the versions of a certain range, instead of just one run from a range of versions.
This would also be different from the "All Versions" category extension, because you wouldn't have to do all the versions in one sitting. You could instead take the time to get a PB in each individual version.
I'm curious to know what other people think about it. Also, does anyone know how to formerly make a new category suggestions to the moderation team (if it even is possible)? Is this post enough?
Thanks :)
Edit: Idea inspired by K4yfour who got a PB in all individual versions.
Hi! I posted a run over 3 months ago, and it still hasn't been verified. Is anybody still verifying runs for this leaderboard? Also, it seems like the last verified run has been done over 9 months ago... so what is happening? Is this a dead leaderboard? Because some people still play FSG...
@Cheestastic Changing the functions keys mode is different on every laptop. For mine, I had to go into the BIOS settings, but on some computers there is a shortcut directly on the keyboard (like Fn+escape, sometimes, or something like that). So you should look at your computer's manual to find out how to do it.
Try using the MultiMC launcher if you don't already do. It works way better for me than the normal launcher, and it solved some mods not working properly.
Are you using a laptop? If so, there are sometimes issues with the F3+xxx commands when the function keys also do other things like changing the volume, the brightness, etc.
I agree, you technically need no mod as long as your computer is able to run the game just fine. I would however recommend to at least get the SpeedrunIGT mod by RedLime, because it makes it very easy to know your time. I think (but I could be wrong) that you can still upload a run that doesn't show the in game time, but I am sure moderators would like you much more if you show the in game time in the recording of your run :)
I don't see that on the leaderboard. It was probably a temporary bug.
@kaytoss OH YEAH you're right, it was in his previous 8:46 PB, not his world record. Sorry for the confusion... But still, he logged out in that run because his timer bugged. You can look at it here (at around 4:15): That run has been fully verified, which proves it is allowed to log out as long as you don't abuse it.
@TwoPolar Exiting and reloading the world is allowed. Even Doogile did it in his 1.16 world record! As long as everything is recorded and you don't abuse it, it will be fine.
Also @matrHS, yes you often need to exit and get back into the world to make spawners disappear from the pie chart after breaking them. It's a well known bug, hence why you need to exit and relog.
edit: doogile did not relog in his world record, it was in his previous 8:46 pb. Please look at my answer below :)
Sodium is not the only allowed mod for 1.16.1. The mods listed as 1.15+ just above ARE allowed for 1.16.1 too. That's what the "+" means (as in 1.15 and every subsequent version). It's just that if you use sodium in 1.16.1, you have to use the special speedrun version of it.
Hope this helps :)
The link for the allowed seed generators is not provided in the category rules. Where can we find it?
