Hello, memers. Seeing as there is some interest for people to run this game, anyone can feel free to post here any current strats and tricks that could be used in runs or even those tricks that aren't speedrun viable, but are interesting in itself. Also any questions or discussions about optimization of the run itself can be posted here.

Due to multiple runners having an interest into doing TBoGT hundo, I tried to put together a small and quick doc of what the current route looks like.

What I want to add is that at multiple parts in this route I have improvised multiple times due to time of day: I try to do Club Management as soon as possible, so the amount of Base Jumps and Drug Wars you can do between missions and CM mostly depends how zoomy you are going and if you have any deaths. Same goes for random encounters, I haven't yet found the perfect time for each of them.

Also a side note, I will add pigeon map and when I did what ASAP.

So today I once again tried to run the any% no save glitch category, and similar to my PB run, my game crashed, this time at around 3 hour mark. But what I found out is that I had the same instance of weird bugs showing up 10-20 mins before the crash - either somewhere a white horizontal line appears over the screen or some parts of the screen ar black/gray. Im not sure if others have this same kind of an issue, but I have had this issue on both 32 and 64 bit versions of PPSSPP and using different versions of the emulator itself. I did use clean and newly installed versions of PPSSPP.

So for those who consider running either any% no save glitch or 100% categories of this game, I advise you to either save your progress and reload the emulator when glitches like that start to appear (the glitches can be seen in first 3 parts of my PB few mins before the vid ends) or to use a legit hardware, which in this case would be faster RTA wise.

If you do consider restarting your emulator, then accept a chance, that the crashes could become more frequent, like I had in above mentioned PB, that I had a crash first 2 times at 2h marks and the 3rd time at 30 min mark, so the further you will continue, the bigger chance is that the game will crash constantly like heck.

If someone who has played CTW for a long time in one sitting and hasn't had these issues could post either what versions and specs they use, but either way, legit hardware is the way to go for these categories.

So i stiched together a quick 100% route to encourage people to actually run it. It is located here:

This route is still kinda in its development stage, as I haven't tested it, or went fully through it myself, but it should be okay, or atleast covers 99% of everything. Also it looks kinda childish, but I tried to make it somewhat understandable in the spare time I had.

I will be more than happy to help anyone if you have any questions, as the pictures might be hard to understand, because I couldn't get the map at high res. Also mention if there is something missing.

So as you all know, save glitch breaks the game up pretty badly in Chinatown Wars. Today I messed around in CTW a bit with other missions after you do a save glitch (I dont have a video tho, will probably post it later)

It turns out that, not only after using a save glitch you open up a couple of missions up, but the mission start points change aswell. I had a nexperience when even the Rat Race started from Kenny's restaurant, even tho it has to be triggered on the other island. Basically as much as I understood, from Kenny's restaurant you can spawn and start any mission, that is given to you by Kenny, including Copter Carnage, Missed the Boat? etc.

I havent yet tested this out with Chan and other characters, but will do in the future.

Also, once you do a mission, you get around 45 new messages in your inbox (I did Natural Burn Killer as the first mission) and after opening up/reading the messages, they take off and spawn new missions, depending probably on what messages you read, but I did read all of them, so couldnt test out all of that completely.

Note: One glitch that happens with messages is, after you do Yu Jian (its usually after Natural Burn killer in the same marker if you do it as the next mission) is, if you open up for example a spam mail, for example, Welcome to Badger network or similar, early in the game, you get stuck in the message screen and can't quit, because the game thinks that you recieved one of the first mails from Kenny to go to him and aks you to use the GPS waypoint, but a Bager message doesnt have that option, so that can potentially stop a run. P.S. Hopefully i explained this okay-ishly

So from what I am understanding at the moment, you can change spawns of the missions by opening certain mails and doing missions in a certain order, so with a lot of grinding and experimenting, probably theres a way to line up all of the story missions to be close each other without the long drives or needs for a cab. Also the Yu Jian mission spawns, so 100% count can be achieved. This might make possible future hundo runs easier as you don't have to wait for mails and making a route even more optimal and gaining advantages in other missions.

Im writing this on behalf of the new DLC that has been released - Shipwrecked. This DLC adds a lot of new features to the game, even more than Reign of Giants did, and making yet another seperate categories just for the game will make the leaderboards look chaotic.

My proposal is that we might try to make RoG and SW as a different game, so that their leaderboards would be easier to understand. Seeing as both of the DLC's change the game drastically, this seems pretty obvious that they should be listed as seperate games.

Those who maybe lurk on DS forums, voice your opinion about this.

This threads main reason will be to discuss timing related rules and also adding new categories. I only recently became a mod of this game and due to different outside issues havent had enough time to pick up and run all categories myself aswell as haven't yet added new categories. But seeing as other mods haven't been active since this all was made and seeing activity here there is definitely in need of re-organizing this.

Here everyone can ask me a question ar say a suggestion and I will try to help and answer all of them.

Also about the timers, I did make a bit more precise description right now, but want to hear your opinion if you agree on this or not.

Any chance of adding this category and/or anyone even being interested into doing 100% CTW runs? Im thinking of either getting a PSP or capturing footage on android and try my luck and bring more activity for this game.
