I had an idea for what might be a more niche category related to the MSQ run that would, hopefully, breath some new life into MSQ runs.
I call it "Employment%". I've also played around with "Get A Job."
Take your current ruleset for ARR MSQ: No premades, no mailbox/marketboard support. However, this run has two changes to it:
- Instead of finishing at the end of ARR Patch 2.55 quest "Before the Dawn," it would end after completing the quest "The Ultimate Weapon," at the end of base ARR. This change is designed to make more runs more accessible (ie: shorter), and eliminate a handful of Hard Trials/Alliance Raids that cannot be utilized with the Duty Trust system, giving greater breadth of alternate routing options for players. And,
- Require the completion of at least one base ARR Level 50 Job Quest series. This means have the job stone AND complete the capstone quest with all abilities. This change gives greater impact to those who continue to use group content to get through the dungeons, shifting much of the burden of those dungeons back onto the runner themselves, smoothing out the otherwise rough ups and down variables of that group content.
With these changes, there open up different routing opportunities depending on which class and job a runner will pursue, routing and weaving those together with the base ARR quests, and doing so in a way that makes logical sense. Additionally, the ONLY content that cannot be done via Duty Trusts - with the elimination of patch content - are the three MSQ roulette dungeons, which historically have lower queue times. This expands the competitive environment.
A thought I've tossed around while submitting my first official MSQ time and finding things to eliminate in my own runs, but something that I think would make more MSQ runs more accessible and, perhaps, more popular.
