Record footage of you doing the manip with input display such as nohboard (https://sourceforge.net/projects/nohboard/) and post it here or in the pokemonspeedrunning discord in the channel #speedrunning-help. https://discord.gg/0UUw8zDe2hWlwRsm
While loading into the overworld you need to buffer movement, you're standing still for like half a second. So hold left while you hold a to load into the overworld.
You should definetely not feel bad for having trouble learning this manipulation. I'm 4th place and I still mess up the manip sometimes. You could be doing something wong that you don't know, so making a video showing inputs is never a bad idea. Besides that, you really dont need to succesfully do the manipulation in order to get a decent time.
There is no 1/10 chance for it to go wrong. It is 1/30 to not have a nidoran showing up and 1/60 for the yoloball not to work. For yoloball to work you have to clear the first textbox within a 4 frame window and throw the ball with the exact inputs from the video.
Since you probably dont have a Game boy player, sp + cable and a capture card you want to start with the emulator. https://github.com/Dabomstew/gambatte-speedrun/releases the basic guide https://www.speedrun.com/pkmnredblue/guide/5y94k you can capture your things with OBS https://obsproject.com/ Everyone learns at his own pace, so hard to say a beginner time.
There is a chance you save on a frame where the manip does not work on. Try to resave, if this is not the case, make sure you pick up the moon stone frame perfect (start holding a when you step towards the moon stone).
These are savestates for an earlier version of gambatte speedrun and are not compatible with the current one
You can check your TID manip on your starters stats. For example if you need trainer ID F1C8 (hexadecimal) which is 61896 (decimal) you can check your stats upon getting starter and verify your trainer ID.
Im talking about the first can, only the movement till the first can matters. You could try this manip if it really doesnt work consistently for you
Are you buffering the can like you do with the moon stone, else you could try the exact same manip without the a presses outside of the gym
Holding (buffering) inputs is a way of playing frame perfect, which is needed for the manip. The a press at the end just adds 2 frames to skip the zubat encounter and get a paras at the end.
Yes, the tile you move to you can buffer a and start presses. The same goes for the a press at the end of the manip.
Have you tries resaving? Also are you buffering the a press to pick up the moonstone? Which means you start holding a while moving to the ball.
Is it just the zubat after the a press or other fails? There are certain frames you save on that gives you certain encounter fails. The manip is not 100% to work.
