Oh, right. We used to allow limiting fps to 40-50 or something. I forgot about that. All four runs on the "No Lag Jump" category jump on the checkpoint in 4-5. (Even though Skelekat and Yoda_Cage don't actually use any third-party software to do so.)
I don't think the right thing to do is to remove all runs from the leaderboards. Because it is not fair towards the runners (although I might be biased here because I have wr), and also because having an (almost) empty leaderboard might scare away new people who are looking for games to run.
I agree that it makes sense to ban checkpoint jumps in any%. Because the Cube Placement Glitches aren't used in any of the current runs, I think we should leave all runs on the leaderboards and rename the category to any%. (Replacing the current any% category). They will not be very hard to improve with the new time saves. Then we can ban checkpoint jumps for all future runs.
I can't remember which glitch the lag jump was. So I'm not sure what the current categories really mean.
I don't think anyone would mind if you changed the categories. There are no runners for the "main" any% category. If you think that it makes more sense to merge the main category with fps limit, that's fine by me. (That would also mean I get WR back in any% :D).
You can make a discord server if you like. I would join it. I can't promise that I'll be doing runs again though.
I visit Speedrun.com daily and check all runs after they've been submitted. Up until now, all submitted runs were legit. But if it would ever happen that many people submit cheated runs, we can always enable verification.
You play in in gamemode survival by default in the survival branch. So doing runs in adventure mode doesn't make any sense.
That's a great idea! It's completely legal according to the current rules, so I guess it's a free 20 second timesave.
I was referencing a guide from 2012 because I was too lazy to actually start up my game. I guess some level names have been patched since then.
I know, I'm currently trying to contact admins about it.
Thanks for the guide, it's a great addition to the leaderboards!
Okay, I added them for you :)
Let me know if you see any mistakes, need another category or need anything else.
I much appreciate the time you put into this game. I saw some of your runs and they're pretty good.
There are already IL leaderboards ingame. Adding them here would be pointless.
I agree with Xeiz. You can just add another column on the leaderboard that shows if the run is done on console or not. Just like the leaderboards of Portal 2, which has only one run done on x360.
Someone should probably add that to the rules then.
You'll have to submit a new run yourself. You can use your other account to remove your previous submitted run.
Go to video settings and change the settings so the game runs in a window instead of full screen. The game will run in a window without border (so it still covers your entire screen). The only difference is that livesplit can now go over top of portal (as long as you enable "always on top" in layout settings).
Hope my explanation makes sense :)
You can choose for yourself, If you look at the fourth column on the leaderboards, it shows for each run whether they used glitches or not.
The number showing how many new notifications I have doesn't go away after I read them.
There should be an option to sort leaderboards by time with loads by default. Right now, the talos principle leaderboards are completely messed up: http://www.speedrun.com/talos_principle
