I'm changing the timing of runs. Timing will begin when you gain control of Mario inside the level and end when you enter the door at the end of room 5. This will admit runs that begin on the overworld, instead of forcing a reset on each attempt.
Yo everyone thanks for your interest in Super Nothing World. I'm really honored. Here are some things I want to get out there now that the leaderboard is up:
Right now I am the only moderator that is verifying runs and managing the rules and categories. I'm not an actual speedrunner, so it would be nice to get someone trusted by the community to do stuff like verifying runs. If you meet these qualifications, I will make you a run verifier: +You must volunteer +You must be an SMW speedrunner +There must be no objections
Super Nothing World skips the "Welcome to Dinosaur Land!" intro screen with the boring pause. It goes straight to the overworld. So there is a bit of a lag between "new game" and assuming control of Mario. I timed it with a TAS, and it's 3.6 seconds. So set your timers to -3.6. If you use -2.7, it will be a black screen when your timer hits 0.0.
I originally wanted to wait until the game was routed out before putting a run out there. But I posted one because I thought it would help get the leaderboard up faster. It turned out to not be necessary, but since it's out there, feel free to check it out to learn some (but not all) of the fast strats I worked into the game, or ones I found out about since the game released. There's still a lot to discover, and I don't even implement the strats very well (at all) so good luck and have fun!
