His DC1 run is back on Any% for the time being. But no more split-video files will be accepted for future runs.
As for DC2 - considering he used a console , i have to agree that i dont think he edited the run or did a segmented the run, additionally the 9splits somewhat matches up as well with the 3-Part Video from archives.org , However it is still very dodgy that he did not replied to deadhunter for a simple clarification and deleting his comments / texts - with that all trouble could have been completly avoided.
If the majority of the active DC2 runners decided not to include the run due to these circumstances - then it should stay that way. And after all - it would be nice to have a word by him about that matter but does he care about it or even know about the matter thats going on here? Unless we hear from him i think it should stay the way it is right now. I dont want to discredit him and i think the run after all is pretty amazing - but having this discussion without the main person involved would just end up arguing about the basics, which actually should be pretty clear by now.
Here is the thing though, edited runs into multiple files "could" potentially still be segmented, he ran on console, so that wont be the case for him however if its an emulated run or similar - even if unlikely- it can be done. For now Lucianos run will stay on Any% but it is now clearly stated in the rules that split-files of the run will no longer be accepted, and thanks to twitch, youtube or whatever video streaming source is out there - that should be no problem at all. As for the DC2 part, as i said on that other thread Deadhunter has the last word there as he is more active on dc2 than i am, and i somewhat support his stance on the matter specially that Luciano deleted his messages and comments asking about the run which is always a bit dodgy considering he just wants a simple clarification.
In fact you are correct. Thank you for that I will re-evaluate the run and additionally check if i can find a single video file. If not, i will have to move the run to segmented category instead as i dont think run is completly invalid to be removed completly from the board.
If he doesnt even respond to you or work with us / you then i dont see a reason why that run, with current ruleset should be posted. And if he even deleted your comments then its a bit dodgy. I removed / rejected the run again. If You and the active runners decide to put up a segmented category then we can consider to post and validate the run , but until then it should be left out of the board.
Edit: If we talking about that, its basically the same with Zenos run that hasnt been posted on the board. Personally i know he is legit, but then again the same rules apply for now.
Speaking of the rules with single segment / rta timer, considering the age of that run single segment might be out of question, he has the runb splittet in 3 parts on the website i linked to , with that run, which is an improvment to the 9part thingy (which youtube related back in the days). However RTA is pretty relevant these days isnt it? Due to difference with pal / ntsc on console? If Luciano didnt respond to Deadhunter as said and a "single segemented" recording cant be found AND it already has been discussed in the past between the active Dino2 people then the run should be removed for the time being unless a segmented category will be added. However - this is just my personal opinion - considering the small numbers of people actually playing / running it these days it might not worth it adding additional categories to the board just for that run.
Thank you for pointing that out, i havent really put an eye on old Dino2 runs since Deadhunter did it mostly, however i added the run and time accordingly and he is now 1st place
Mediakite is essentially / based on sourcenext but just modified to be more friendly on modern hardware. As far as i know there is no mediakite port / version of the game and the sourcenext version is nothing else than the JP PC version re-packed to be more friendly on modern hardware (well modern back in WinXP times). Additionally pc version comes with arranged mode which equals to consoles Hardmode (similar just as with the Resident Evil games)
If it comes to which version is the fastest, its actually close fight between the PSX Version and PC version (run nativly) if run via emulator you get slower results! However as Dino is fairly unpopular to Run i havent spend the time yet to figure out why / where you get that significant time save between versions besides lucky RNG
you are right it was never really specified but it was an unwritten rule to play the game at its regular difficulty and not on easy mode, for obvious reasons that you just stated. Will update the rules for clarification As Dino is basically just a spin-of of Resi we also mostly just used the same rules that has been used for the Resi Runs but with the difference since there is no "Heavy" mode in DC we opted for the "Normal" difficulty.
Under Guides there is a graphic accel. guide by me,try that and see if it helps
the fact that you saying you "mount" the game - i assume you have not installed it and just run it from an image file. This looks like some files / data might be currupt - get yourself a clean iso if you do not own a physical copy ;) Even the game can be run just without installing it usually causes issues and crashes. Make sure the files are installed on your HD and make sure you have checked everything in the setup menu of the game launcher.
this is not a piracy website, you have to buy the game or find it yourself
of course, how you run the game is up to you. just keep in mind that the PC version is with newer systems very very unstable and buggy
ressu counts as continue and can be abused to "reset" the game and therefore change the RNG how / where dinos spawn, thats why we made the "Segmented" category
category hasnt been added as it was very unpopular and in general the slowest to run thanks to the Dreamcast loadingtimes. additionally as not to many people run DC in general we kept it clean with the popular systems
any specific reason why ePSXe 2.0 ? i found that 1.9 seems to run a bit smoother, but then again... its always about the plugins with ePSXe
Does not crash on my pc version. i run it with admin rights and xp compatibility mode
Im not saying you are wrong and please dont miss-understand that i dont meant to be agressive with my post towards you - but i still think there should be differences in the Versions and not just simplified. I mean, you did to make it simple, but lets be honest - it was working fine there was no really reason to actually adjust it. Its not the most popular game where people were demanding having such a change - and its not like were having any benefit out of it. It actually just made some extra work. I'm not nip-picking about the runs that dissapeard i just think it could have been avoided by doing such a thing.
The japanese Version uses the Codes used in the PC Version (1st Safe 0375 and so on)
I agree that everyone should use the Fastest Version / Game in order to stay competetive - but i think with that there might come limitations.
PC Version runs at 30FPS locked but has super crisp menu compared to console (dont actually know the reason) Now i havent tested due to time limits on my side on how many FPS the Ps1 runs the game - but the DreamCast runs it on 60FPS stable. Now the same frames will probably applied for ps1 .. but i just think it would be overall much nicer to have different Plattforms.
People that dont have access to physical consoles and record equipment are forced to run it via emulator. Now the emulator should run the game in 60fps aswell which makes it the fastest, but its no secret that with emulator there can be frustrating crashes, errors, stutters and so on.
I would btw. highly voice out how really i cannot understand why you just decided without discussing doing these changes. Just based on time-stop in loading-screens is not a good decision for that game.
PC and PS version are different. In fact, the PC Version includes the Playstation Version as Arrange-Mode. The PC Version is called "Original Mode"
Some Codes are different and many items are placed differently between those Versions.
Now while this didnt seems much of a deal - however we have to think about the best possible time / scenario, and different code combinations can result in slower / faster times, even if its just 2 or 3 seconds.
To have a fair "apples to apples" comparision now , the only next thing to do is to "force" all PC Runners to use ArrageMode instead of OriginalMode.
I just wanted to voice-out that i think its kind of rude that you do such a change on your own without discussing specially since you lately dont really race this game that much. 1 of my runs were completly removed for NoWeapon and i had to readd the run when the change happend. Its kind of unfortunate
But well, changed were made, to late now anyways - dont know if you even care, but still wanted to point this out
timer is stopped in door animations and resets if getting killed to the last door sequence
well some runs are missing or not being updated to the fastest run / version.. gonna watch over it and try fix much as posible.
