I kept myself as a verifier cause people clearly weren't happy about the whole IL thing, and nobody seemed to have an issue with me trying to support the recovery by verification. Also, only categories the mods want: like what? I didn't want NMG to exist but most of the runners did, so I added it anyway. Things like LS% obviously won't be made a main category.
Anyway, I guess that's one less problematic person in the community.
Definitely a point with Sunpu, it would be pretty easy to add a subcategory, but what names they'd be given beats me.
@xwDUSTwx Sorry for missing this, seems I didn't get a notification. No problem with the console runs, it's actually kinda interesting. I wouldn't go so far as to make separate categories or anything but the fact that the console is differentiated on the leaderboard is something.
Also, I saw your comment regarding the Matsuyama City time save by waiting out the cutscene right as I was planning on eradicating real time, but I think I'll settle on being okay with that kind of thing (for now) as the in-game time seems more relevant to this game.
Definitely no chance of it being different than everyone else's with Steam, at least, so it's better in that way
You could also include the edge walking bug, where you can move slightly out of bounds on the top-left edge of the map and walk along it.
Sounds like it'd make for an interesting video, in any case.
I chose to time it from when you actually had control over the game, since you had the lag from the MIDI track loading. With that, it was right around the time you describe, 2:43.3 or so. As for why the disparity with in-game and real time even with taking into account the initial lag, I can't be certain.
It's been known that emulators like ePSXe give a very unfair framerate advantage, so yes, separate the categories. Ideally, use of specific emulators should be enforced. XEBRA might be a good bet, as it provides fairly accurate emulation, but technically all runs could be forced to be done on any one emulator for emulator runs and it'd be fair.
@Spectator Are you saying that when you launch the game, you immediately get stuck on a black screen? No error message or anything?
In a case like that it should still stop when the timer does. Keeps it easier and more consistent
I think there is a tool that can run in the background which prevents the mouse sensitivity from resetting with every new game, but it would be banned as it's not been agreed to be an "allowed mod" AFAIK. You can do your own research on whether or not there are any programs that can lower the mouse sensitivity to below the lowest possible in Windows or some other workaround. Just a limitation that needs to be dealt with.

No functional change to this except removing GT skip ban

New category can be considered for inclusion of additional "100%" elements such as All Assets.
I agree with you on GT skip. If this category is to be changed, then that ban can be done away with. (with runners' discretion)
Also, I quickly did realize that my initial proposal wasn't the best. I just wanted to get the conversation started. At this point it seems most sensible, taking into account some of the posts here, to modify current ASM by name and wording of rules without junking the current runs, and then hold the thought of All Assets for later depending on whether people would like to run it competitively or not. I can see its merit to exist at all, but it might not be wise to spread the categories out too thinly unnecessarily.
Had a thought on (current) ASM rule wording, sort of a different way to phrase what @Tirean had on the first page: how accurate would "every mission with a global minimap icon" be? As in, appearing on the edges of the minimap regardless of where you are.
All Assets could be cool but doesn't seem like a replacement for this. Possibly misc category if it happened to catch on.
EDIT: I just realized that I think that definition has been mentioned before somewhere but I don't remember where. Probably something wrong with it if it's not in use now.
If nothing else it could remain the same and have the name just changed to All Missions with the rules worded in a way that makes every mission currently done in that category considered "all of them", perhaps
While discussing adding No Major Glitches, I figured that All Story Missions could be replaced by it. Clearly I was wrong in thinking it was so simple, and so will treat it as a separate matter. Now's the time to see if another leaderboard change can be made, anyway. So instead of wiping out any semblance of an all missions category (silly in retrospect), I propose upgrading it to All Missions (actually all of them).
The change would be relatively small; from my understanding, All Story Missions is every mission that changes the name of the save file, EXCEPT street races and BMX/NRG challenges (correct me if wrong), and also bans gang territory skip. All Missions would include everything, including the street races and BMX/NRG challenges, and the GT skip ban. It would unfortunately make all current ASM runs obsolete, but also make it a more complete All Missions category. This is probably how it should've been to begin with, but better late than never.
This is coming from someone who's never run ASM or 100%, so I'd like opinions. I'm open to keeping both categories available on the leaderboard for people to try out running All Missions before anything else is changed, or something else.
Where was the word "opinion" in my post? Now you're resorting to arguing against a straw man.
Well sorry for changing my plans because of people's complaints. You seem to be running out of things to be mad at me about.
