Watched the run, then took the final time when portal was hit 14:29.460, went to the beginning and advanced frame by frame to find when timer starter vs when level was entered got the values of 28 seconds and 36 seconds, added 8 seconds to portal hit time, to get new value

Haven't made a decision yet, but definitely if there is a good amount of support we could make that the official measure. For sure don't want to change people's places on the leaderboard due to this, but probably a fairly easy solution compared to finding an old version of the game

Could be part of it, I think a good way to tell is to look at the world record time per level that the game actually shows vs yours to see how close you are to the world record for now.

Final post haha, I have found that the new star animation adds about a second per portal, so not a tremendous amount but definitely adds up over the run.

I noticed that in the older version of this game the portals are significantly faster, is there a way to get the faster portals on the latest version? I could be wrong though, I'm going to try and time the portals.
