This trick is frame perfect and the frame is semi-random (semi in that there's always minimum and maximum amount of steps you have to take before an encounter can appear). Absolutely not run viable. Magolor tested this strat many months ago and he got it maybe 1 in 50 attempts. It's so RNG heavy that there's no way to guarantee it.
"Welp, it's got a case of SM64-itis now."
You do realise ¤most¤ games use the Japanese version for speedrunning because the text is faster? Is SM64 like the only speedgame you know?
I did say he didn't even show up in chat too. And no, he didnt retweet about it, didn't use word of mouth. So please don't give me that. I'm absolutely not guilt tripping him to donate if he doesn't have money. I said he didn't support the event in any way, because he didn't.
I'm referring to BrokeSatan. And he's someone I do actually know.
Obviously, if you couldn't tell that by context (BrokeSatan saying he didn't know about the marathon - UselessBrit knowing about the marathon but not attending and leaving it until the last minute to tell organisers he couldn't), you are one to say "listen to the entire story first". Because you clearly don't know the entire story yourself.
Okay then, let me rephrase.
You think UK marathons are a good thing, and yet do nothing to support them when they happen. You did absolutely NOTHING to support UKSM. You didn't even show up in chat or donate. You can call me harsh but it REALLY annoyed that you then had the audacity to come into the thread and say that after showing no support to existing marathons.
And you know, I wanted to tell you it was a thing. I honestly thought I did. I thought I asked you if you wanted to attend. Maybe I didn't, because well, I physically couldn't. I don't want to get too personal, which is why I'd prefer you message me privately, and I'd very much appreciate it if you did, because there's a few things I'd like to say.
"Personally I think one or two marathons in the UK a year would be ideal. One in the spring and then in fall."
You say that, Adam, and yet you didn't even turn up to UKSM in the first place, even though there was an Undertale run at the event. So supportive.
I'm not entirely comfortable with you riding off of UKSM's coat tails even though you got in as a runner and didn't attend the event in spite of that, and left it until the last minute to tell anyone you weren't attending, moreover.
Instead, why not actually try supporting UKSM rather than going off and making your own marathon?
I gathered from the length of the run he didn't use the WR route. I skimmed through the VOD to make sure and he certainly did not. So that theory doesn't have much basis.
It's more likely that the title was just written for clickbait purposes. So much like Drako said, the dude's an idiot. As a new runner you're not gonna get far without some basic etiquette in speedrunning.
Not to mention the run was rejected anyway because it doesn't even follow the rules.
