That’s in category extensions, always found it odd why it’s on there
Do they just mess around? Do they know the code very well? It’s always been something that interested me (along with a TAS, but I’m pretty sure that's not going to happen). But I’m not sure how people actually discover new glitches, is there a process or something?
@Ringo6575 might be wrong but i'm pretty sure that was only for mod zone 2 (or perhaps one of the other 10000000 modzones). You probably saw this video
the only thing I've heard from other people was the they used exploits for the main game
@Ringo6575 Thanks but I think you misinterpreted the question, or I misinterpreted your answer. But what I meant is that I'm basically getting rid of all strats that people keep telling me not to do. So ignore any of my runs before, and just think of a simple run with token cancels. I am NOT doing neo door in this run. So my question would be rather to do
- Sic slide off the observatory onto the "You can jump!" IC, then sic warp into the mirror icecream
or
- Sic warp from the observatory IC down to where the tiny huge and neo doors are located.
I can't preform the sic warp from the "You can jump" to the mirror IC by itself without the SIC slide. at least not as consistent where I can do it in a lot of runs. I wouldn't like to spend a lot of time learning a strat that I would most likely change very quickly. I just see it as not worth it and if I were to spend that amount of time, it would just much better be used for neo door + sic slide.
I'm going to do one or another. Want to actually do a "normal run" so people can stop writing whole essays in my comments about how terrible my runs are and constantly mentioning it.
So which one is faster? (No neo door used in run btw)
So sage saw his WR got beaten and he just casually decided to beat it? wtf
- Bubu snapshot in Lava & Water
Ok it’s not a new shortcut, but it’s used on the BTT. In Lava and Water you can do a bubu snapshot to skip over the ice cream. But you can only do it on controller. But I was just wondering if you could connect BOTH a controller and keyboard to an xbox or PC.
So when you enter Lava and Water you could just switch from your keyboard to controller to do the bubu snapshot, and then of course when you exit you just switch back to your keyboard.
As a side note, I’m assuming you can’t because I haven’t seen the WR do it yet, and it would save a lot of time for what I believe would be something relatively easy to implement in a run. But if that is the case, wouldn’t the BTT be theoretically impossible to do in a run, as you have to do rmlaunch and the bubu snapshot in the same run?
- Translate glitching in the dark maze
I’m not too familiar with the translate glitch, but I was wondering if you could skip some floors with the glitch. Whytte told me they could imagine it being used to skip a floor.
Watch me do a jumpless 100% run
@KrazyBossYT yeah I already got fast fan down, and you basically just said the same thing as Ringo. Also, why don’t you use fast fan in your runs?
It's been like 6 months since I've actually did runs on the game, and i decided to improve it by doing stuff people actually gave me advice on. I've gotten fast fan a couple times, but can never really do it consistently, i just kind of eyeball it. I just want to know some general tips on how you guys do it more consistent. Also any other general easy tips I can implement in runs would be appreciated.
(And yes, I learned how to do neo door, sic slide, and hecklands sic before i actually decided to add this in runs)
@Ringo6575 I meant like what is the exact perfect intervals for BPM on a metronome for suntech. like what would be the ideal BPM to do the Sentech assuming i did it perfectly. (How long does it take until you can shoot another ice cream)
I'm trying to improve my sun and i've been told to use a metronome.
Sage tells me to use 254 BPM
Ringo tells me to use 256 BPM
someone else (I forgor who they were) told me to us 250 BPM
I just wanted to know what is the correct BPM to use. Also any additional tips to get a faster sun would be appreciated!
I would recommended trying to not move your camera so much, it probably would help you get better movement
this was put in the wrong category
Welcome to the community! I hope you have fun speedrunning Robot 64!
I heavily recommend that you master movement first. There are plenty of glitches in this game. Some are really easy to do, others not so much. But, movement is one of, if not THE most important thing in this same. You can get a really good time under 20 minutes using no glitches as proven by Ioffs https://www.speedrun.com/robot64ce/runs/z5ejjenz
If you want an awesome guide for a no glitches route, I would recommend you @Siblits guide. This guide is great for movement. It's simple and easy. And remember GET MOVEMENT DOWN
After you get movement down, I recommend learning token cancel. Once again, MASTER token cancel before you move on to another glitch. If you have any questions you can try to contact the following people, as they have way more experience / knowledge of the game than I do, and will probably give you better tips. [These people are people who generally answer most of the questions in the threads @sage211 knows a lot, but he isn't as active as other people]
@Parimatch
Have fun! If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the forums!
Like what @Ringo6575 said, use the Siblits tutorial. get the movement down first, and slowly start using simple token cancels, nothing too crazy. Maybe after you get the movement down and a lot of token cancels, you could learn the SIC warp on top of the observatory.
TLDR: Learn movement, then token cancels
Idk why but this gave me a notification saying that the NMG wr was beaten
You're going to have to be more specific than "where is no bugs button"? Not sure exactly what you are asking. I think you are trying to submit a run for a no glitches category, although I might not be correct. If so, you're going to need to go to the CE page (Category Extensions). https://www.speedrun.com/robot64ce
Go to the category that says "NMG-CE". The sub category should already be selected to "Glitch-less". But if not, just select the button and you can choose it. Then just submit your run like usual.
