How to run undertale on linux without connecting to steam. (Arch Linux based distros)

One issue you might encounter while trying to run undertale on linux outside of steam is that it will not start, complaining about missing libraries/dependencies. Here is a guide on how to fix the most common missing libraries on arch linux distros.  (this will only work on the native versions of undertale for linux, So no v1.0).

0. Download the native version of undertale, right click the game on steam, click on 'game properties', then click on the 'installed files' option and click on 'Browse'.

1. Use "ldd ./runner" on the directory of the game to first verify what dependencies you might be missing (It will display the following error if it can't find the library).

`libcrypto.so.1.0.0 => not found`

The most common libraries you will be missing (if you are using a modern arch linux based distro) are:

B. libssl.so.1.0.0 (Provided by: openal and lib32-openal)
```

2. Install the following packages on your system:

Packages that you get from the official repo by Pacman -S:

Packages that you get from the AUR using Makepkg or an AUR helper (Like yay):

3. Congratulations, you can now boot the game without needing to use steam! 
Just double click the "runner' executable whenever you want to play.

Low% TPE and Low% Neutral (LV1) video guide (2020)

This is a guide showing off the unique strats used in Low% TPE and Low% Neutral (LV1). For parts of the route that aren't different from Neutral/TPE/TPE Glitchless, you should reference the route guides in the general text guide.

Neutral Glitchless (No Aborted Genocide) optimal route notes (2024 Route)

These notes go over the differences from TPE Glitchless for the optimal NGNAG route. This route includes a few required quads and loses time to the old route if you miss a required quad, so it's not recommended for beginners. Thanks to chair547 for discovering that it's faster to kill Mettaton and for lunarezi for routing in the Cowboy Hat strat using gold from killing Temmie.

Ruins

- Kill First Froggit.

- Don't grind for any extra Ruins encounters.

- Get the Spider Donut.

- Do not get the Faded Ribbon.

- Do not get the pie.



Snowdin

- Get and equip the Tough Glove.

- Do not buy the Manly Bandana.

- Do not date Papyrus.



Waterfall:

- Do not get the Old Tutu.

- Get an Astronaut Food for Kindergarten Undyne.

- Do not get the Cloudy Glasses.

- Kill Temmie



Hotland:

- Do not water Undyne.

- Kill Vulkin.

- Get and equip the Burnt Pan.

- Do not drop the Tough Glove.

- Kill Pyrope (requires a quad to 1-shot).

- Do not get the Stained Apron.

- Kill RG01 and RG02 (each requires a quad to 1-shot).

- Menu buffer past the encounter in the North puzzle room (skips a cutscene after Muffet).

- Use the Spider Donut to spare Muffet.

- Buy the Cowboy Hat.



Core:

- Kill Madjick (requires a quad to 1-shot).

- Flee Astigmatism.

- Equip the Cowboy Hat during Mettaton's first phase.

- Kill Mettaton.



New Home:

- Don't save in Throne Room.

This video was recorded last year, and no major things have changed except on switch version it's now allowed to do the long elevator skip by just walking in and out of the room. Also my movement isn't ideal but the menuing should be the same :)

·PC
-v1.05
This version plays some cutscenes shorter due to oversight.
Therefore, this version is the fastest in most categories.
There is also v1.05a which fixes a sprite error in Undyne the Undying.

-v1.06+
This version fixes most of the oversights in v1.05.
Therefore, it is not worth using for most categories.
The only exception is Genocide, which is 2 frames faster due to changes in Sans text. (Yes, that means all categories do not need this version.)

·Playstation vita/4(5)
Most of the contents are identical to PC v1.06+.
However, it has the feature of being able to run overflow. This makes it possibly the fastest version in the category that allows glitching (except for Genocide).
Note that the Playstation Vita will experience lag due to performance issues.
Also, this version cannot be controlled with the keyboard.

·Nintendo Switch
Due to an oversight in this version, you can go to New Home without pressing the Long Elevator button.
This makes it the fastest version in Genocide and Neutral Glitchless.
It is also the only version that includes Mad Mewmew fight, so this is required to run AME and KABAMB Extended.

·Xbox One(Series)

This version is for the most part identical to PS4 (overflow is executable, keyboard is not).
but due to internal specification changes, some strategies cannot be executed. (For the most part, there are alternative strategies).
