Hey friends!
In response to community feedback, we now permit PC runners to skip the introductory cutscene and lights tutorial. Together, they last around 2 minutes on every reset, but don't add any significant gameplay value.
New Rules
Here are the established rules:
- You can create a save state after the intro and begin subsequent runs from it.
- Sam's initial position must remain unchanged before creating the save state, but you can adjust the camera angle.
- For verification, runners may be required to share their save state with the mod team to confirm no tampering occurred.
- Start your run with a brief pause to ensure the initial position is clearly visible for verification.
Language timing requirements
Additionally, you must adjust your run times according to your game's language version:
- For English, add 2m 04s to your run.
- For German, add 1m 58s to your run.
- For Italian, add 2m 10s to your run.
- For Spanish, add 1m 56s to your run.
- For French, add 1m 59s to your run.
Few more words…
You can configure Livesplit to initialize the timer with the appropriate added time. Using the autosplitter is most recommended, as it has an option to start the timer automatically once you start moving at the beginning of the run. If you choose to skip the intro, then the timing begins on the first frame on which you can see Sam move.

Hello dear friends!
I would like to officially announce that emulators are now allowed on SC1, specifically — V2 categories.
Speedrun.com changes
Two new variables have been introduced to V2 leaderboards — Platform and Version. All pre-existing runs can be found under Platform “GCN”, Version “Hardware”.
Rule changes
To accommodate this new change, some additional rules have been appended to Emulator runs. They will show up in the Show Rules window if “Emulator” version variable is selected.
A few more words
Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion with regard to this issue, and I hope these changes will bring in new interest in V2 categories of this game. Should you have any additional questions or other inquiries, please reach out to the moderation team. Thank you.

Hey dear SC1 V1 friends!
We have recently updated every run time submissions in V1 (Any% and Individual Levels) to be in accordance with new LRT timing rules. This change in timing rules happened due to a problem discovered with an older version of the Autosplitter some time ago. This meant that all runs done before the Autosplitter update had to be re-timed to make it fair for all future runs going forward.
As a reminder, previously, the autosplitter would not count the time spent while quicksaving/quickloading, as well as the level loads. The current version of the autosplitter only excludes the time spent in level loads.
The update is now live, and you can check out the updated times on our speedrun.com leaderboard.
Should you be interested in seeing our re-timing results, please visit this spreadsheet:

If you would like to contest any of your re-timed runs, please get in touch with SC1 moderators, so we can sort it out.
Additionally, V1 IL rules have been updated to reflect our philosophy when retiming level runs for the V1 leaderboard. You can find them by going into any level leaderboard and clicking “Show Rules”.

Dear friends! 👋
Recently, the Individual Level leaderboard has been split into V1 and V2 to reflect the current status quo of the Any% leaderboard. However, due to it being a fresh addition, there were no rules applied.
After discussion with V2 runners, there was a consensus reached on what these rules should look like. And I'm pleased to announce that the new rules are:
