I was maybe, If possible, might do a run of this game on my PS2 and I want to know about the characters. Why does everyone choose Amy and not the other characters? Is she faster than the other two? And what are the speeds and drifts stuff for the other characters, if you get what that part means?

Everyone chooses Amy because she has the fastest acceleration, at least that's why I choose her, though I'm not sure about the top speeds and drifting capabilities for each character, but Amy's acceleration can let her get the fastest times on each course and also allows for the quickest recovery upon hitting something, that much I do know.
