Resident Evil 5 NG doc

Hey guys, if anyone is interested, Auddy and I are working on a document for a walkthrough/help guide for NG (all difficulties). If anyone has any ideas, new strats, anything that will help this out please feel free to let me know! Thank you.

United States

The locations and values of all treasures one could reasonably get in a speed run. The locations of all static (the guaranteed 100%) items one could reasonably get in a speed run. The cost of each weapon upgrade and how much you can upgrade it per chapter.

I'm still learning the game but I could provide any strats I've found for solo play if anyone cared about those.

Ireland

When I get my PS3 I will spend msectionore time on this game and will hlp out with this. You might want to add these to the guide

Kentucky, USA

We'll for sure add the cost of the items and the amount of money needed. I could possibly look into a solo doc. We're still in the early stages of it sadly but it'll be ready in a short while. And yeah Trance, anything you figure out feel free to let us know.

Spain

A thing that I've noticed on NG Veteran so far, the 5-1 boss won't die of just one rocket to the face, it takes some more bullets after that to go down completely.

Ireland

i'm routing ng vet now. currently trying to find a skip for the chainsaw majini

Kentucky, USA

On veteran the 5-1 boss takes 2 rockets. I have a good strat for duo chainsaw but solo I'm clueless.

France

Yo, First post here yay ^^

Me and a friend are learning NG Normal at the moment. I'd like, as soon as you got your notes complete to put in common yours and mines to see if we can improve some things on this run.

This is my first ever speedrun (or at least a serious one) and atm we did 2:09 RTA (1:37 IGT).

Just yesterday i saw a little skip on 5-2 (thanks magnum66 and Greg Innes) . You can make in sort that enemies don't see you in a whole room. Practised it yesterday in Coop and it works pretty well. The time gain should not be huge (2-5 secs), but you avoid any hit so no need to heal later because of that.

By the way, if you have any advices for beginners like us, please tell, it'll be very appreciated.

Kentucky, USA

Yeah, we use that skip but due to money management for NG, it's kind of risky. It's totally possible to get past them without it though. You can watch Auddy and my video on his Youtube on in the console NG co-op section. I'll be sure to post the doc whenever it's done. Good luck on your runs!

Ireland

Erm... You might be thinking about another trick. There is no money needed in this trick.

Kentucky, USA

Ah, I see. I thought it was the thing where you shoot the guys with a magnum. I've never tried this one. It looks a bit risky.

France

It has nothing risky. I personnally believe that the normal path is clearly more risky. The only thing you risk if you fail it is a loss of 2-3 seconds.

Try it, and you'll see for yourself. For my part I'll try it during every run from now.

Kentucky, USA

I'll look into it and compare mine and this one. Thanks for sharing!

France

Yo,

so me and my friend continued training NG Normal and today we did 1:56:47 RTA. Kinda proud of it ^^

The problem is that we still don't have any way to capture our run in one shot, so atm it's unofficial, sadly.

Btw, Auddy and Snow, what was your RTA PB? 1:56:xx? or 1:55?

Kentucky, USA

I believe our record is a 1:56:xx but it isn't on here yet. We want a better run before that. But that's a good time. Keep it up! Any questions on strats, feel free to ask.

France

ok, so it's a new WR for us at the moment, we just did 1:55:17 today. Unfortunately we still don't have any way to capture our video in one shot, so it's just a time without any proof.

We lost 2 mins on 5-3 (death) and nearly 1min on 6-3 (lots of little mistakes).

Next step is to record our runs ASAP :p

Kentucky, USA

Good job! What platform/difficulty are you playing on? Auddy and I are planning a run soon when he gets into his new place.

France

We do 360 :) And we play NG Normal difficulty.

And for IGT, I can't tell you, for one reason. We just found a simple trick to reduce significantly our time. We don't select any save place (HDD or memory card or whatever), so that at every chapter ending we can directly press start, and not wait for save to be done. Each time it's done well ( like when we don't submit anything new to leaderboard), we gain 2-3 secs.

I hope that I'll be able to record my runs soon, so that i'll be able to check my IGT by adding chapter times.

Kentucky, USA

Damn. That's a good idea! We always cleared our cloud for the sake of looking back at our IGT to see where we messed up. But we'll have to look into that!

France

By the way, I just bought an Elgato Game Capture HD, I should get it like thursday, so I'll be able to record our runs.

So we'll be able to do some races, but the problem is that neither me or my friend have a good enough internet to stream in good quality and without lags.
