# Minecart Skip

### *Discovered by JM-MorenoMS (around April 2016)*

Skip Minecart works on all 30 or 60 FPS versions, BUT there is another method of doing it only that it works ONLY on the Steam PC version (so it will not be shown in this guide).

1 - It can be done WITH or WITHOUT the Ditman Glitch as shown in the videos.

2 - You can do it on the second or third cart, because the scheme is the same.

3 - There are 3 images that give you an idea of ​​how to do it at first, using a reference point.

4 - The reference point is the position of the strollers, second or third, it is noticed that when the stroller starts to move and goes diagonally to the right and you notice the affection making a V shape as shown in image 1 .

5 - When he makes this turn, the "Jump Over" disappears (this is the moment you have to prepare yourself for the inputs)

6 - Take a step back (this step will make the "Jump Over" appear again in the middle of the turn) and keep pressing the button to jump to another cart.

7 - When Leon is doing the jump animation to another cart you have to drop the D-pad and the Analog until it will clip to the floor and you can run on the tracks.

8 - Doing the skip without the Ditman Glitch is recommending doing it on the second cart, because you have more time to position yourself and it seems to be easier.

9 - There is an RNG that can happen in the third cart, that when the cattle are run over by the cart they can drop some item and you accidentally collect it at the same time you try to skip, if anything appears just collect and jump to the other cart simultaneously.

With game installed we will configure the AutoSplit, remembering that you have to be with your Resident Evil 4 installed in the resources tab and will have to select the corresponding version.

You can not be with the game executable with another name (re4.exe, resident evil 4.exe, 1game.exe, bio4.exe) it has to be as (game.exe) otherwise AutoSplit will not work.

# Note 3:

- I strongly recommend that you do not move the folder with the ASL and layout files so that AutoSplit does not revert to the default settings.

# Once all the steps are done, test AutoSplit by playing your RE4.

# The tests are these:

1 - Start the game normally and the timing will start when you gain control of Leon or Adad (this AutoSplit does not count time on loading screens and cutscenes);

2 - Go to "Options" and see if the time is stopped;

3 - Open and close the inventory several times to see if the time stops on the black screens;

4 - Enter a door to go to the next scenario and see if the time stops when entering the door on the loading screen and see if it splits automatically;

5 - Collect keys to see if it splits automatically.

# HISTORY

In the past AutoSplit went through changes due to technical problems:

# ASL AutoSplit *LeonSReckon*

- Time would stop in some scenarios for no reason;
- The "Split" option was removed from the layout because it keeps splitting at times it shouldn't and splitting more often, so the runner will have to manually split on preferred chapters;
- The "Split" option was modified later to only split at the end of each campaign, but it had some problems, it split before or after the campaign was finished, so we decided to remove the "Split" option for good;
- Before the game counted times in cutscenes, however, in version 1.1.0 in the SW campaign after defeating Krauser had a cutscene that you couldn't skip (I don't know if it's a bug or it's from the game's own EXE), but in version 1.0.0 you could skip, so it went through a change and cutscenes will not count time.

# New ASL AutoSplit + Doors + Keys by *House_of_Evil /Gabriel Dornelles*

- The final split in Ada's campaign was split too early before input.
- The game split at some points that it shouldn't have, but it has been fixed and is still undergoing fixes.

How to install the full game (Tutorial)

- To avoid download problems I also recommend installing the "Free Download Manager" which is a free download manager.
- There are many tutorials on YouTube on how to install RE4 2007 in various ways, many are zipped like this one, through torrent or with the installation file along with serial, but most of them come with missing files or corrupted files noticed this a lot and many tutorials that I saw and installed from various sites some presented problems;
- So I decided to provide my own updated Resident Evil 4, among all of them this almost never crashes and is fully playable;
- So see the following tutorial with images to assist, which is very simple and this also applies to Japanese version.
- You will click on the link in the [resources](https://www.speedrun.com/re4pc07/resources) tab to download on;
- It is in total 2,41 GB and extracted is 4,57 GB with all files;

## Installation:

1 - Select the file "Resident Evil 4 1.10 (EUR-PAL).partXX" by clicking the right mouse button.

2 - Click on "extract here" which will generate the folder with all the game files.

(All the parts need to be in the same folder and you don't need an installer).

## Observations:

- The 4GB Patch has been applied to both executables:

100 -> v1.0.0 (EUR-PAL) NO graphics quality for a bad PC.

110 -> v1.1.0 (EUR-PAL) WITH graphics quality for a good PC.

- Rename the EXE file "100" or "110" to "game" to avoid errors.
- The ubisoft logo and demo in the menu have been removed from the "Movie" folder.
- The "SaveData.dat" is completely 0% (download complete saves from the internet).

The rank, or difficulty adjustment, is a numeric value between 1 and 10.
It modifies damages you receive, you deal (or maybe enemy health instead), critical headshots chances, and even hitboxes sizes.
There's also some enemies which spawns only when the rank is high enough.
So it's a really interesting thing to control when you speedrun the game.
But in order to do this, you should understand how it works first.
 
Rank is divided in two parts : a value between 1 and 10, and another one between 1000 and 10999.
The first is the actual rank, while the second is the rank "progress bar".
The rank (first value) is always equal to the first digit of the "progress bar" (two digits if 10000+).
Example : When the bar is at 5943, the rank is 5.

The calculation is something like this :    
MOD = BASE x RANK_RELATED_MODIFIER?
           
Where MOD is the actual gain or loss on the progress bar and BASE a defined amount of points for a given action.
The RANK_RELATED_MODIFIER value is yet unknown but is used to make it as  :
   - The HIGHER the rank is, the faster it will DECREASE.
   - The HIGHER the rank is, the slower it will INCREASE.
   - The LOWER the rank is, the faster it will INCREASE.
   - The LOWER the rank is, the slower it will DECREASE.

======================== Dedicated section : Game Over ======================== Game over rank point loss isn't as easy as the others. Indeed, the loss is not applied to the rank when you die, but instead at the rank you had on the last checkpoint. Checkpoints are mostly loadings rooms, and some cutscenes. Checkpoints are refreshed after a death, in order to apply the next death to the rank you have after your first death. Finally, all game over are the same, Leon or Ashley's death/capture all lower the rank by the same amount. At rank 5, a game over is a 800 points loss.

======================== Dedicated section : Rank reset ======================== In the game, there's some places where the rank got reset to it's default value (based on difficulty). At most boss fights the game will normalize the rank back up to 5500. You can prevent this by choosing retry or dying / killing ashley in the area where you encounter the boss.¤¤

# Question: What are exploit commands?

Answer: It is a sequence of buttons that are pressed in specific segments of the game that activates some action or trigger of the game to skip some parts of the game saving a lot of time, with this new discovery was explored in the whole game, so with this great discovery I registered all the specific passages, with the help of other Runners and also discovered other discoveries that were shared by the community on discord.

Answer: No, it has already been tested on other versions, but no result;
The only command that in this case is to reset the game through another sequence of buttons works on PlayStation 2

Answer: Probably this may have been a debug tool used by the game developers, which is very common in games today to test the game, advancing fast parts to save development time, so when the first PC version was finally released, they ended up forgetting to disable these tools that for us we use as an advantage.

Answer: Yes.

# Question: Can you do this exploit in the "Glitchless" category?

Answer: Yes, it is considered an exploit and not glitch, which are completely different.

### Context:

- Glitch it is when you perform a movement to perform such an action for the player uses it as an advantage taking advantage of it, for example: Crossing walls, skipping scenarios, dialogues, having infinite items and etc.
- Exploit can be confused with glitch or bug, but it is not, it is a more specific term that explains certain malfunctions that are exploited by the player to his advantage, for example: poorly positioned platform, shortcuts with unintentional shape, positioning error of such items and tricks using objects or other characters in the game.*

# Question: Does this exploit work in the "Separate Ways" and "Assignment Ada" campaign?

Answer: Yes, "Separate Ways" has only one skip and "Assignment Ada" nothing unfortunately.

# Chapter 1-2 QTE Skip + Despawn Ganados (Commands Exploit)

- I discovered a new Skip, it is similar to Ada's QTE campaign, but having a difference in the scenario; 
- After completing chapter 1-1 if you do the sequence before the QTE, you skip it;
- When you advance you realize that some enemies are gone and this can affect a small part of the route, because this part has a lot of RNG of these enemies some can attack you, grab you or they can be in different locations, because as the enemies are gone this delays their artificial intelligence and facilitates the route. 

### So I made a comparison video showing what exactly changes when you do the sequence and when you don't.

Basically you do the command and the Garrador gets only 1 HP.

Answer: No, it has already been testing in places with bosses, for example: Del Lago, the first El Gigante (and with exposed plaga too), Bitorez (2° form too), Armor, the two Garradors (after the clock tower), Verdugo, Salazar and U-3.

- But the Garrador of the cell saves a long time and avoids that boring rifle strat;
- In NG+ you don't have to equip PRL, just opens the cell, makes the "ditman glitch" and equip the grenade.

When you enter the door, hold down the three Exploit buttons as in Sewer Skip and Leon will appear next to the second piece, from there the route begins.

This route is valid for any category, you will save ammo and herbs.

1 - You collect the second piece and will start the battle against Krauser, when you defeat them you will take the third piece;

2 - In this section you will perform a Glitch to cross the wall;

3 - When you execute it you will follow the path out of the map to get the first piece.

NOTE: do not worry you do not need to be at the height of it you can collect at the bottom, and go around and straight to the door, with this you save a lot of time without having to worry about the Krauser attacks on your way and his robots.

Press and hold the four buttons simultaneously which are:

## Aim with the knife + aim with the gun + access the map + Options menu (can be the order you want)

## This command does a Force Reset on your game in the middle of the gameplay without having to go to "Options" and it is a little faster and it applies in all modes.

NOTE: Do not use the command while you give a "Retry from a continue point" or enter a door otherwise the game crashes, and in some doors it can happen that the menu has the same effect when you enter the door but in an infinite time, and it only stops if you access a new game from another campaign, look at the Movie Browser or Ada's Report.

# Sewer Skip + Strat for NG/No Merchant

This Strat is valid for NG and No Merchant, in NG+ you need to pass the chapter losing Ashley, because she will disturb you a lot.

I noticed that as the game understands that you are with Ashley the scenario will change and advantages appear, examples:

1 - You can get the Broken Butterfly in the door that you need Ashley without needing only the turn in the scenarios after having saved Ashley from the next chapters;

2 - The Labyrinth will be without Wolves, so you don't need to worry about attacks;

3 - The room that has a Rocket and some items inside a glass, the gate will not be there, and some enemies will not appear in your way because the game understands that you are with Ashley, so you can collect the items without needing to go back to the scenarios after saving Ashley in the next chapter.

The downside is that you will have a lot of trouble in scenarios that have a lot of enemies and you will have to protect Ashley, so you need to be more careful.
