I know that some RPGs have short categories like Zio% or Paladin% in FF4, but it has been brought up for a couple of short categories that would be more along the time for racing than anything else.
It was brought to my attention that some people want to race a Glitchless North Bridge category, which takes about 1 hour and time stops after Darum goes boom after killing Teim. I bring this up to give people who want to possible race this game an opportunity to do so without the need to learn the complex glitching of this game, or just a short goal category for those with limited time. Granted I know this still takes more time than the any% route, not everybody is going to want to take the time to learn the series of glitches needed to finish the game.
I don't think it would hurt anything and somebody has already run the Glitchless North Bridge category. I told him I would submit the idea to the leaderboard.
He also mentioned a Glitchless Neifirst% category, which I weary of myself since that is a much longer run than even a 100% run. I think just a Neifirst% would be a nice, short category that involves only a small handful of glitching.
What does everyone think?
Brilliant ideas, this is exactly the kind of run I love since I'm not big into glitching (not judging anyone who does it) and don't want to always spend 10hours speedrunning either. Just posted my effort in the Northbridge category and am interested in a Neifirst one too, how long roughly would that be? I guess its 'just' Shure/Nido/Biomonsters/Roron/Uzo/Climatrol?
I know this is an older thread but I'd be interested in several shorter game sections. As with the one you describe, MrStarbird, there could be any number of short sections of game that all come with their own starting condition and end points. With the use of an appropriately prepared save state any section of game is fit for this. We could even create and distribute authorized save states for X section run.
