I did another route on my pb, which skip some dialogues and save some time, unfortunately i think that with this route it's hard to get 250 coins before The Puzzle tower etc...
And by the way, if someone saw a part of my run, if he has any tips, just share to me :)
Finally, a question : If i do a really good time on a level, i record it but the time isn't on the official leaderboards, will the run be accepted on speedrun.com?
Hello Sly and welcome!
Honestly I think I need to time the windmill both without the last chat boxes and one run with the skip you found (which was a nice find). The reason why Im not sure whats faster is because you line up abit farther away from a jump setup after you come to the wall with the chat box skip route but in the normal route there is a jumping setup when after the wall jump. So with the normal route I know its possible to get around 15.5 seconds without any chat boxes and around 20 seconds with all boxes. But I will check that out nice find!
And also about the 250 coins. That is no problem with the chat box skip route. The reason you had 242 after Mount Magma was because you did not grab one of the 10-coin diamonds when doing 7 keys at Cozy Canyon. If you still feel that you are abit short on coins and wanna be safe in the end I recommend picking up the diamond at Ascend the Stone Tower while climbing up there.
Yea I was the one who scummed through your run for abit :) I think the route you did was good aswell as the setup to go ''out of bounds'' (not really out of bounds but you get what I mean) at Cozy Canyon. I do a different setup for it by jumping on the sign at the start which is honestly abit harder and more risky but it saves probably about 2-3 seconds each time compared to your strat. Other than that I think it's more about execution and practise. My run that is 21m 46s still got alot of stuff that can be improved (19m 20s is probably possible). So yea practise makes perfect :)
About the last question Im not sure. I think you have to ask one of the mods about that.
Ok thank you, for this long answer... I'm gonna watch your PB :) If you are streaming, i'll try to be here too, that could be nice ! Btw, for the OoB setup on cozy canyon it can be a lot more faster, with just doing a "mario 64" jump (if you know what i mean), it saves 1 second and i'm absolutely sure it is faster to do it by this way. One of my friend is gonna run the game probably, he knows the setup better than me :)
You are very welcome :)
Yea I will probably stream this weekend. Been quite busy this past week. Okey great! :) Yea I get what you mean.
Hey all,
About to start running 100% however I slightly disagree with the current definition. I feel as though all items should be required as they are accounted for in the journal.
What are your thoughts on adding 'all items' to the definition of 100%?
Hello LeXo and welcome! Just watched your run, and it was a great one. Congratz on WR :).
About 100% I honestly haven't thought about it and Im not sure how much the mods have discussed about it either. But personally I do agree with that 'all items' should be a definition for the 100%. But I think we will need more testing (when it comes to coin collection etc.) when the game is fully completed since Polykid gonna add atleast 3 new items that we have no idea how much the prices will cost for them.
A lot has changed so far, i feel 100% should be all fossils, medallions, locations, and items maybe
also i've been working on optimizing cozy canyon, message me if you're interested
Hi,
I just finished my first run through Poi with a time of 7h and I would love to speedrun this game at any% and 100%.
I see there are some guides dated a year ago but there are no resources at all so I was wondering if there is any updated guide or anything I have to know before attempting to speedrun the game.
Thanks!
We don't really have a good guide yet as most people didn't play the game until it released (for good reason, it changed a lot.) but if you join our discord server we are working on making a route and discussing the fastest ways to do everything.
