If im gonna be really honest with you, if your main goal is to just "get good", ur gonna get frustrated VERY easily at how daunting this game can be. Instead, focus more on the effort that you put into the game yourself and dont go by other's standards. You'll find much more sucess if ur motive is to speedrun to get a better time for URSELF and not to show others how good you are.

Just a reminder that PB is not very reflective of skill level.
I have a 40min 1.14 PB but without being cocky, I’d say that I’m perfectly capable of getting a sub30 in that category.
How long did it take me? A few months. People learn at different speeds, so your question is a little unnecessary to say the least.
Also speedrunning is like 50% luck or more so it’s tough to say If u wanna get better just learn techniques that too runners use, hope for good rng, and practice a shit ton Turn on some Netflix and play - I started a few months ago and my PB for 1.16 is 32 minutes which I only got like last week but it was so rewarding getting that pb so just keep working at it
If you want to do something that is less luck dependent try SSG
