Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere (if it has could someone link me it?) but when and why did the site implement ads? Before ads only appeared when you weren't logged in, but now they appear regardless. It makes the site a massive pain to use on my phone. Is ELO that strapped for cash or is there some other reason?

Strapped for cash? Probably not, but they were always going to find a way to profit off of SRC, shouldn't be much of a surprise.

They added ads a little over a month ago. There was a news post that quietly mentioned it among various other things, and also several forum threads complaining about it.

Don't expect positive changes on the ad front in the near future.
