Gooooooooooood morning, speedrun.com! My name is Miss_Murder, I'm a 23 year old runner from Chicago. I actually was introduced to speedrunning as a whole by the likes of SummoningSalt and Karl Jobst, amongst others who came up in my 3am YouTube scrolling. But it wasn't until recently that I considered doing it myself. In recent months, I had started a Gold Plated run on NFS15 and then discovered the leaderboards here. Once I realized that I've got the potential to set and/or break several records for individual tracks, that become the goal and I started recording my attempts. However, I kind of fell off the grind since then, and don't really have anything worth submitting as of yet. But that's going to change soon! I'm still not exactly sure of what my goals are as a whole, I only really had my eyes on the achievement itself until I saw the leaderboards. But I guess the main thing is that so long as I hit the gold medal time, I should be on pace for a WR on a couple of those tracks. So that's priority number one right now. Maybe it's a little lofty, but I know I can do it. Eventually, I hope to run other games that don't have "sErVeR iSsUeS" every fifteen seconds odd. Maybe older NFS games such as Most Wanted or Underground, maybe retro titles in general. It's only recently I decided what I want to run consistently, so I considered just about everything for a while. Anything from A Hat In Time to crime games like Sleeping Dogs, so I'm still trying to get my bearings here. But I guess the main goal is to maybe meet some new people, I don't know. I honestly still can't even believe I actually took the plunge and made my account lol, especially since this post is a long time coming given the age of my account by now.
Outside of speedrunning, my main hobbies are cars, bikes, art, and music. I actually do write my own songs in my spare time. I sing, play guitar, and I'm actually trying to teach myself drums at the moment. I haven't gotten anything recorded yet but I've always been a bit of a creative type. I'm also a writer, but again, haven't published much of anything. Same with my art, I fell out of it a while ago but I've slowly been getting back into my old hobbies. Anime and movies are also pretty big for me, but for me to get into it it has to have a good story. I just finished Evangelion recently, which TOTALLY didn't scar me in any way whatsoever lol, and I've since moved on to Initial-D. The duality of man, one might say. But I'm always looking for more anime and movie recs, so if you have any hit me up. I'm also a bit of a horror movie freak, but most slashers gross me out. I prefer psychological horror, the stuff that keeps you on your toes and plays with your head. So think Twin Peaks or Silent Hill (which is ironically one of my comfort games), I guess thriller might the better term for it. I like being kept on the edge of my seat. When it comes to gaming, I'm mainly on PC and stick to open-world games like GTA and Red Dead, or more linear story-based experiences like Life Is Strange. Outside of GTA Online, I don't play a lot of multiplayer titles unless I'm with the homies. If I had to pick my favorite game of all time, Life Is Strange would be it. I'm actually gonna do another playthrough here pretty soon in preparation for the new one in October. But I've also dabbled in platformers such as Hat In Time, another personal favorite, and I've recently been getting back into the old Nintendo titles I played as a kid during the GameCube and Wii eras.
But I mean, that's pretty much me. I guess the main thing I'm looking for now is any advice as to how I should get started. I have a Twitch account I want to stream my attempts on, how should I go about that? What should I be going for in the way of a basic streaming setup, and how do I maximize my chances of success? Looking for just about any advice you can give me, whether it comes to speedrunning or streaming. And I mean, feel free to hit me up either way. Always looking for new people to shoot the shit with. So until then, au revoir. Until the next time, peeperinos.
