I've been thinking about running this game for a while now, since I like it so much, and I've seen a couple of runs of the game. What I'm wondering is if there's still a community of people running the game frequently? Finding new glitches and routes that save time, anything. Because, while the most recent run I've seen was from 2 months back, I want to know if there's any reason to even try to run it now. Was the best possible run that could have been attained, well, attained already? is there even going to be people to talk with and share methods and notes with? People to attempt to get better than? Is anyone still running this game, or is the community for running this game gone and found better games to run, and left this one to the dust, pun not intended.
I was forced to move on after my PS4 account got banned, which lost me my copy. Ill eventually rebuy it and run it again. But as you said, I moved on to other things. Dunno what the other guys are doing.
Im not sure about it but I think as it stands any% warped and warpless are pretty optimised. But I cant even get close to the any% warpless record. My movement's not great. Dunno about 117%. So yeah, dunno if this answers ur questions. Im not running this atm. Dunno what the others are planning. I will probably come back sometime, but that wont be until 2017.
Still, its a really fun run (Minus the final boss, which is imo the only bad part of the run). The tech is really nice and fun to do. If Finn is still around im sure he'll stop by ur streams (if u stream that is). He did for me. FInn's also made tutorials for the tech and a complete route guide of any% warpless. So starting off isnt as difficult.
Hope you give it a try at least.
Cool, i visit this site several times a day, so Its not often I miss stuff for games im following.
NG+ is a category that can only be done from the PC version, and has to be set up manually. Its not really NG+ as there is no NG+ in the game, but its modifying the game so that u start with all upgrades. Dunno how good of a firsttime speedgame it is. Dust was my second speedgame, and it only took about 2 weeks to learn before I did my first run, which ended up being a low 1:20:xx in any% warpless. Ill message finn to stop by here. If hes available. See if he can answer anything Ive missed.
I've been thinking about running the game myself, I'm currently running Freedom Planet. I wanted to know anyone's opinion though on Casual difficulty and the movement opportunities it presents, along with difficulty switching to work past auto-leveling. I'd expect switching all the time would probably lose as much time as it would save, but I think it's an interesting idea.
We play on casual cuz infinite stamina is cool, and stamina is not cool. Game would not be a fun speedrun without casual difficulty.
And we only switch difficulties before the Kane (Kain? I forget) is defeated, cuz it provides the most xp in the run.
Are anyone else running this game? Would be really fun to make chat skype discord whatever to discuss and talk :D
I'm still running it myself every now and then, but school and work has taken up a fair bit of time, so I couldn't get enough time to get a proper run in. Just got a PB though, and hopefully I can set aside time every other day or so to continue practicing =)
There is a Skype group but it is lying pretty dormant most of the time. Perhaps it should be transferred to Discord?
And yeah, Finns WR is a bit hard to touch =P
