# Backup Main Save

Before you follow this guide, if you would like to back up your main save file/keep it safe. Go to *"Program Files (x86) > Steam > userdata > (user-id) > 1796470 > remote"* and put it in a safe spot.

# Workshop Tool

This tool is made directly by Landfall and is very easy to set up. Go to [this link](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3448839996) and subscribe to the workshop mod. Then, once you open the game, you can go to the setting, enable the splitter, and when to you want it to split. Make sure these settings comply with category rules.

# Save File

To set up the save file, download the file [here](https://www.speedrun.com/HASTE_Broken_Worlds/resources/p8oqd) and make sure you follow the steps listed. You should have a backup file and a file in your save directory. This save file contains all the unlocked items and just diversifies the item pool.

Unfortunately, this file doesn't contain all shard unlocks by default. Although, if you have the workshop tool installed, you can press f1 while in game and then put in *"PlayerProgress.SetShardComplete 9"* to unlock the shards.

# Reseting/Batch Set-up

You could keep reimporting the file into the save folder, or you can set up this batch file!

First copy the text above and put it into a text file. The change where it says \examplename\ to whatever your system name is. Then, change any of the directories if needed. Click on File in the top left -> Save As -> Rename it to any name you want, just make sure it end in *".bat"* & *"Save as Type"* is set to all files.

Now that you have set-up the batch file, whenever you want to reset, you can close your game and run the bat file.

# How to activate the Livesplit Autosplitter for HASTE

1.  Open Livesplit and HASTE: Broken Worlds
2.  In Livesplit make sure you have 5 splits set up (i.e Tutorial 1, Tutorial 2, Hub, World, Boss)
3.  On the main menu press Shift+f3
4.  Now Livesplit will automatically start and split for you

Setting up LiveSplit on Linux

This guide will help you get LiveSplit running on Linux so that you can use it with the autosplitter built into the 'Speedrunning Tools' mod. We're using the Windows-native version of LiveSplit (so NOT LiveSplitOne), so we'll need to run LiveSplit under Proton, and configure LiveSplit for autosplitting.

## Setting up Proton

1. Download the latest version of LiveSplit from the LiveSplit website: [https://livesplit.org/downloads](https://livesplit.org/downloads)
2. Extract the downloaded ZIP archive and move the folder to where you want your LiveSplit installation to reside (e.g. your Home folder, /opt/LiveSplit, etc..)
3. Open Steam and go to your library, then click "Add a Game" in the bottom left: ![](https://i.imgur.com/CxAfGAS.png)
4. Choose "Add a Non-Steam Game..."
5. Click "Browse..." and navigate to the folder to which you extracted LiveSplit and select "LiveSplit.exe": ![](https://i.imgur.com/fUNZcO9.png)
6. Click "Add Selected Programs"
7. LiveSplit.exe should now appear in your Steam Library. We'll now configure it to run in Proton. Right-click the LiveSplit.exe entry in your Steam Library  and choose "Properties...": ![](https://i.imgur.com/Nm1lSNY.png)
8. In the "Compatibility" tab, tick "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and select "Proton Hotfix". You can also use a different Proton version, if you want. ![](https://i.imgur.com/xoK56S6.png)
9. Close out of the properties window and run LiveSplit from within Steam.  Steam will download Proton the first time you use it, and then the LiveSplit window should pop up.

Now, LiveSplit should be running. There is one caveat: It seems like LiveSplit may not stay on top of the game window when HASTE is running in fullscreen and the fix appears to depend on your window manager. You can still add LiveSplit as a source in OBS to have it be recorded, or move LiveSplit to a second monitor if available.

## Setting up the autosplitter

1. Right-click the LiveSplit window and click "Start TCP Server" in the "Control" tab. This must be done **every time you start LiveSplit** for the autosplitter to work. If you forget, HASTE will complain on start-up and you need to go to the game settings and disable, then re-enable the autosplitter after starting the TCP server. ![](https://i.imgur.com/fJ63l6Z.png)
2. Follow the guide on [setting up the Speedrun mod](https://www.speedrun.com/HASTE_Broken_Worlds/guides/l23g8) to get the mod and set up your splits.

Setting up Speedrun Mod

This guide will help you get the 'Speedrunning Tools' mod setup which enables autosplitting as well as run verification for random seed runs and the ability to use IGT (in-game time). This guide is simply to explain our specific speedrunning mod and assumes you already know the basics of speedrunning. If you need help with LiveSplit or recording software there are an endless number of non-HASTE-specific tutorials out there.

The mod is loaded using Steam Workshop, which can be found [here](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3448839996). And the link also exists in the tools section of the [resources](https://www.speedrun.com/HASTE_Broken_Worlds/resources) tab on this page. You can also find [LiveSplit](https://livesplit.org/downloads/) and [OBS](https://obsproject.com) in the resources tab.

Once you have subscribed to, and downloaded the mod; launch HASTE along with LiveSplit and we'll go from there.

To start, you need to activate the autosplitter from settings. (If you don't see the speedrunning tab, that means you don't have the mod downloaded, or it downloaded incorrectly!)

Now, the settings for autosplitting underneath depend on how many splits you want, and what category you are running. I will explain what each setting does and you can decide how many splits you want and where to put them. Keeping in mind timing starts and ends at different times per category.

- For a full game run, timing starts when pressing new game/continue from the main menu, and ends once you kill the shard 10 boss.
- For an individual shard, timing starts when you enter the shard and ends when you kill that shard's boss.
- For tutorial 1, timing starts when you press new game/continue from the main menu and ends when you enter tutorial 2.
- For tutorial 2, timing starts when you enter the portal coming from tutorial 1, and ends when you enter the hub.

This is also listed on the rules of each category.

## Explanation of each autosplitter setting

Many of them are self-explanatory but I will give a description regardless.

- **Fixed Seed** - Will set a seed automatically for each shard so you always get the same run
- **Autosplitter for LiveSplit** - Enables/Disables autosplitting
- **Split on death** - Splits when you die
- **Split on boss death** - Splits when you kill the boss
- **Split on play node** - Nodes are the circles you click on in a shard to enter a level. This splits when you enter one of them
- **Split on play boss node** - Same as on play node, but only for the final node of a shard
- **Split on run end** - After you kill the boss, when you start to transition out of the level is when it will split
- **Split on tutorial1 start** - Splits after loading into tutorial 1
- **Split on tutorial2 start** - Splits after loading into tutorial 2
- **Split on spawned in hub** - Splits after loading into the hub
- **Split on start new run** - Splits when you enter a shard
- **Split on main menu play button** - Splits as soon as you click the continue/new game button from the main menu

As mentioned at the top, this mod also enables IGT, which you can use by comparing against it in LiveSplit. Right click on your timer and hover over the **'Compare Against'** option to select IGT (listed as **'Game Time'** here)![](/static/blob/dz4w24me.png)

In case you are concerned by LiveSplit showing "There is no autosplitter available for this game"

Fear not! All the autosplitting capability is built into the mod itself. The mod simply tells LiveSplit when to start, stop, and split so LiveSplit doesn't need an autosplitter for itself to do that!

And with that, you should be good to go! Have fun autosplitting your runs!
