Hi, I want to join DDR WORLD speed run. And I have some question about timing rule.
Because I my area, DDR WORLD arcade is limited, and there are several DDR players in my area. So I often need to play DDR in queue. If I encounter a situation that I have to let other player play first while speedrunning. Is it still need timing while I wait other player finish, or I can pause the timing while I waiting, and remain timing after I touch the e-pass card.
Also I want to ask why DUO MODE is not allow. Because the same reason above, I have to play DUO mode with other player, or the waiting time will be long. In addition, I can't figure out the advantage for DUO MODE on speedrun. So can the restrict of DUO MODE be cancelled? Or there are reason for banning DUO MODE. Thank in advance.
Hello, thank you for your interest and question.
Is it still need timing while I wait other player finish
Yes, you have to continue the timer while waiting, because it could be a break time. However, I added a new variable named "Downtime (mm:ss)" to specify the length for which you cannot play the game due to external factors. If you want, please add a new value and fill out the time.
Or there are reason for banning DUO MODE.
There are mainly 2 benefits of DUO MODE.
- It is easier to access EXTRA STAGE than SOLO MODE. This will reduce the frequency of the login process and make the time shorter.
- Some secret songs could be picked early by playing with the player who unlocked them.
The second one could be avoided if both players ran the speedrun with fresh cards. This has the potential to become a new category, but I have no plan to cover this for now as it is a rare case.
I hope these answer your question.
The "Downtime (mm:ss)" is a variable for the time that something (e.g. waiting in the queue while other players play, rebooting for error, etc.) interrupts the play. If you want, please add a new value and fill out the length that you cannot play the game. The voluntary break time is not included fo
