First speedrun of SD Hiryu any%
I talk about the general specifics of the speedrun as I play. There will be a large period of time where there is no activity; I fell asleep briefly while doing the speedrun.
I'm not used to timing myself with Livesplit; the splits require better timing in many places. Some notable mistakes during the speedrun:
1. Playing any length of the game in Normal difficulty (outside of the first tournament)
Higher difficulties allow the AI to use better equipment, usually in the form of increased attack, defense, and healing/utility. The lower the difficulty, the better.
2. Falling asleep
My only times where I can stream without interruption are very late at night. I have sleeping issues, so I may inexplicably fall asleep at times, and only for brief periods of time.
3. The grind done while waiting for Bokuchin to be found
While it helps with the Ryumaou tournament, it takes up a lot of time to improve the equipment. Using high-powered equipment also brings up the rank of the character, which is the game's second form of difficulty. The higher your rank, the better the equipment the AI will use. Ideally, you want this as high as D rank, and as low as E rank.
This is why I generally go through most fights with just the weapon only.
4. Not setting the time for all rounds (outside of the Teleport Mantle requirements) to 30 seconds
Better to run out of time in a round than to make it last longer than necessary. It's a significant loss in experience points (2 exp vs 4-8 exp per round), but it will make the run faster.
Overall, there's still a lot to improve on for the speedrun. I estimate the best possible time with Yuka to be a sub 2 hour run; possibly sub 1 hour 50 minutes if fully optimized with good luck all around. This includes unlocking Bokuchin before the Metal Suzaku fight.
