Now obviously, like I said, you need bug spray to enter the Beverly Room. So bug spray will (probably) not count towards the Item Count. However, if possible you may not need a LiDAR Scanner for Lights Out or a diving helmet for Thalassophobia. It’ll at least take a while to exit both levels.

So I thought of an interesting idea for a speedrunning category (literally no one asked, but idc). I call it Itemless%. The goal is to beat the game as fast as possible with as little items as possible unless they are required items to progress through the game. Examples may include Bug Spray, and Diving Helmets.

I’m talking about the 2 most recent updates that may cause a problem for Update 3 speedrunners, but yes, 3.0-3.2 is also recommended for speedrunning Update 3.

Since Updates 3.7 and 3.8 came around not long ago, the following glitches have been fixed during this time:

• Level 0: Flying over Pitfalls
• Level 3: Electrical Skip (again)
• Walkie Talkies no longer have a hitbox. (You can no longer use them to jump fences in Levels 9 & 10.)

Sorry, speedrunners. You may wanna downgrade your current version to 3.0-3.6 if you haven’t already.

Of course, if you’re in Hard or Nightmare difficulty you’re screwed.

However, the “Electrical Skip” is still a thing and remains unpatched (last I checked). It’s hard to learn, but easy to master. You need to simultaneously walk & jump into the entry gate at a certain angle. As of now, there’s no consistent way of clipping through the ceiling as you may fall into the void. (Don’t worry, though. You can just restart the level to go back and try again.)

Many glitches related to Level 7 (swim speed boost) & 8 (Abandoned Level 0 skip) have been patched. You have to downgrade your version to 3.0.

Oh, ok. It’s been patched. I’m gonna assume that the cave system skip has also been patched, correct?

How do speedrunners even swim faster than a boat in the first place? I see them sprint into the water and everything but I can’t do it for some reason. I don’t know if it’s a skill issue or if I need to go a certain route past the boat to get the speed boost, but I’m just a bit curious about the process and all.
