I'm using the thing at the bottom called "Extra variables/subcategories", we already have categories.
Hi, I'm a runner of Parallax, and recently a runner has been submitting using an older patch. There's no issue with this (it's available via the steam beta participation), but I've added in a sub-category for it, to keep them apart.
However, I'd really like it to show ¤all¤ subcategories (aka all game versions) when someone wants to view times. Is there a good way to do this?
Actually we already go OOB, so probably it'd just be old cube any%.
Lets see, you lose 2 paint messages so instead you'd 1. Go OOB and 2. Get Don't Cross the Streams So it'd cost you about 20 seconds.
It's a huge pain to remove saves, so we didn't bother with that. Similarly, it's not a conventional NG+, since the achievement thing is basically a glitch.

The main issue here is that we don't want to have requirements that prevent someone from playing without purchasing special hardware. The two big considerations here are the Obelisk Cube jump, which uses V-Sync for consistency, and the Transcendence run, which uses a custom FPS setup for a cube jump.
Chatting with people in the discord, mostly it seems better to not allow V-Sync, because of the hardware concern you mentioned, but to continue to allow custom FPS setups. In other words, if you want to tweak your settings before the start of every run to get 100 FPS, then use the preset "lowest" and change them back, that's OK.
So what exto is suggesting is how to get logs and QR codes working. You'll need to do a playthrough in which you collect as many QR codes as possible (70-80 should do it) and ALL of the audio logs (22). Then, collecting them should give you the paint triggers.
Why not use the built in autosplitter code (https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplit/blob/master/Documentation/Auto-Splitters.md) ?
It should be able to do everything you do here, but means that there's less of a maintenance concern.
I'm happy to help you debug the Livesplit autosplitter, if you didn't get it working. The buttons being gray means there's something wrong with the path, generally deactivating / reactivating solves it.
You don't need python for the autosplitter. Look at the guide: http://www.speedrun.com/talos_principle/guide/nr92o
I'd put legacy low% (29 sigils) in misc, and migrate the runs. No need to throw them all away.
If you're doing connectorless then there's no backup, since you can't solve the puzzle any other way and you need ¤all¤ the red Ts. If you're doing connector + cube you can solve the puzzle through some older strats.
Please clarify what you mean by 'no OOB'.
Alright, this is implemented for the main game via an ASL (AutoSplitter Language) file. You can activate it by 'Edit Splits' -> Set Game Name -> 'Activate' To change the granularity of splits, use the 'Settings' button next to 'Activate'.
I have yet to implement the DLC (Road to Gehenna), because I don't own it. If someone would like to furnish me with some log files / be available for some testing, I'm happy to make an update.
In the spirit of making the game a bit more fair to those of us with slightly worse computers, I'd like to remove the load times between levels and also the starting cutscene from timing. Implementation is fairly simple: As long as there's a standard autosplitter, it's a few lines of code away.
This would mean that (like most other games), timing starts on 'gain character control', ends on 'lose character control', and skips loading times.
Language is not my forté, if you'd like to provide a better description (or even just some typos/corrections) I'll make changes.
- Yeah, paint's fully predictable. Most of the runners are like 20-60% through memorizing spawn sets.
- Last we timed it (i.e. when we figured this out), set 0 saved 10 seconds against other spawn sets, BUT knowing where paint is enabled 20-30 sec of faster paint jumps.
- QR codes from friends don't seem to unlock anything (which is good). You mention A7, so I assume you're thinking about paint manipulation, but it turns out that just resetting (in any%) or just dealing with it (in all sigils / low%) is the way to go. 3a. Probably the best place to put a QR code would be in A1 - A Switch too Far
- Go watch the sub-12 any% by Azorae.
Current theory is that you need a save file with QR Reader and Good Listener unlocked in order to get those triggers.
I redid the pictures, I'm probably going to add text descriptions since no picture can say everything.
