You should still be able to get the NH switch from the Nook terminal.

Using the New Horizon joycons gives you the New Horizon themed Switch furniture piece in the mail when you start, which sells for more than the regular switch. Using New Horizon joycons gives an advantage over other variants.
The ones made by nintendo (model DOL-020). https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=gamecube+1019
Also be sure that they are authentic. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamecube/comments/9lj905/references_for_fake_vs_authentic_gc_memory_cards/
Memory cards, system time, console/emu or anything else like that doesn't matter. You just need to make sure of the following:
- you have a correct house setup (a line of shirts alongside the wall)
- you position yourself (by grabbing a shirt, like you plan to move it)
- you are using a 2x1 table
- you are running in a straight line when you pause to drop
- you drop at the correct moment
If you feel something is wrong and you cannot get on the table, leave and then reenter your house. You can watch any of the runs on the leaderboard to see how it's done. Also, if you can record your attempts, I may be able to point out what is wrong (if anything is).
Make sure you are using a 2x1 table, and also be sure that you are pausing to drop the table at the correct moment. You can use the wallpaper located in the top left house to check this.
You want the top of the inventory aligned with the brick mortar of the wallpaper. This is noted by the thin red line in this image.
You don't necessarily need the best equipment to have a run verified. Another runner by the name of Getasmileonthatface used a webcam pointed at their TV, and uploaded a photo of their splits. HD or not, as long as you have some footage, accompanied by your splits, you will be fine.
Preferably, yes. Use your phone if you must; the quality does not matter.
If you have already done a run, link a photo of your splits where it asks you for the video.
Interesting. I never considered the timesave that comes from using a mouse over the Wii remote. However much time it saves, I doubt it would have resulted in the ~6 minute timesave over 2nd place.
A side-by-side comparison would be best for distinguishing a few differences, but not whole runs like this. There are too many factors like different movement, menuing speed, or any mistakes that runners made. Not to mention that I dont even know if GetASmileOnThatFace used USB loading of any kind, or if the console was a Wii or a WiiU. Hell, maybe the run is just better in some instances. There's a lot to consider here.
But, history says that emulators usually results in faster times. And though it could very much be the case that "more precise cursor movement" got the WR, it is probably the emulator altogether that netted you first place.
(Note: we aren't looking for just one ~6 minute difference. That would mean both runs would be equally paced without it.)
I've been thinking more and more about emulators vs console, and I think I should look into it more. Especially since the new WR uses emulator. I will check to see whether there are time differences between disc, USB loading, and emulator.
Times for both console and emulator will most likely stay grouped together, so don't worry.
I will post again later with my results.
because every good game has a general discussion thread lol
Congrats on the WR, by the way! Looking forward to seeing more!
