Just realized I forgot to respond back when this was posted (I'll also admit I was less familiar with ScummVM then than I am now). Considering how annoying it can be to run these games on modern hardware/OS I see ScummVM as a much more accessible way to play the game with no unfair advantages and don't see a reason to ban it.
Anyways this was probably obvious with your ScummVM run on the leaderboard for months but wanted to make it clear for anyone passing by.
As long as the hardware is official and you're using an actual disc, playing on those consoles is fine. You don't need to submit them as emulator runs. Just submit them as what version of the game you're playing. For example, if you play the gamecube version on a wii, submit as "Gamecube", same for xbox version on xbox 360. I don't see why ps3 would be any different either I play the xbox version on 360 myself
@CC27, I've added you as a mod to the GBA leaderboard page for this game, feel free to create that new category over there: https://www.speedrun.com/sm2gba
Hello all, As of today (3/20/2018) we have split the leaderboards of each version, as they are different games entirely and deserve their own leaderboards. Here are links for each version:

I'd personally like to split the leaderboards between games before making any new categories, but if you have a run ready I can probably put that together
New "Map Dialogue Skip", Wondering if it can save more time than it does but cant think of applications that i havent tried
I'll start with the new timesave I found tonight: Scuba Dialogue Skip
I just wanted to create a place where people can either post their new strats or speculate/ask ask questions about potential discoveries or timesaves.
I've been meaning to write about this regarding Spider-Man 2 for a while now. All versions of Spider-Man 2 that aren't the main version (Xbox/PS2/GCN) are totally different games, just as different as Spider-man 2 is from Spider-Man 3.
In my opinion its unfair to all versions of the game to have to share one page, as the main version has to compete for space with other versions that aren't even the same game, and the less popular versions are completely dwarfed by the more popular main version.
I just really think the best solution would be to split up all these different games into different pages, although I do support the notion of putting all the non-main versions into their own page.
Somehow before I even clicked on this post I knew it was about this.
Also this doesn't seem to apply to the first cat chase: I tried timing the regular route through the cat chase and another staying as close as possible (except going for the shop) and both ended up being a mid 2:07
So i just did some timing tests with cat chase 3 part 1 (the one in chapter 8 that ends in a cutscene before starting another section of the cat chase) and got some surprising results. I did three different versions of the section, one where I followed as close as possible to her the whole way, one where I tried to stay in the middle (~40 to 60% of the bar) and one where I tried to stay as far away as possible (~60-90% of the bar). Keep in mind once i saw her make the last jump and start running to where the cutscene takes place i got close again for the last two so i could make sure i made it and didnt waste time/invalidate the test by making her wait.
Also I did each test twice for more reliable info.
Here are my results. close: 1st attempt: 26.6 | 2nd Attempt:26.6 medium: 1st attempt: 31.2 | 2nd attempt: 33.3 far: 1st attempt: 37.7 | 2nd attempt: 40.6
I think we can say for sure that there's a somewhat linear relationship between how far you are from cat and how fast she goes at this point, and its actually somewhat significant.
It seems like she only really slows down when you're really far from her. Do you think there's a difference in speed between medium and close distance?
Thanks for the advice! I guess i'll go ahead and request a series.
So, a couple weeks ago i submitted a request for a leaderboard for the game "5 Days a Stranger", which was to my pleasure accepted and added to the site.
Since then, however, I have realized that I want to speedrun the other games in the series (7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, and 6 Days a Sacrifice respectively) which are not on the website. I am not sure which way I should go about requesting their leaderboards.
Should I do runs for the games and individually submit leaderboard requests for each one, and then submit a request for a series? Should I submit a request for the series first?
Sorry if this seems like a tedious question, I just want to make sure that I do things properly.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hey Taran, could you possibly upload a version of your map with no icons?(just the building layout)
