There are definitely settings you shouldn't use if you want to submit runs, but I don't have a definitive list. I would suggest finding the settings that work for you first and then post here again with what you changed and I'll let you know if there is any problems, If you are just changing things like render and resolution and things of that nature that is perfectly fine though.
Hey SpeedrunFan2022, I’m pretty sure we’ve had this conversation before but we will have to politely decline your request. Although Tunse and Daggy are not active, they are around and available to verify runs should the need arise. There is a lot of knowledge and rules to adhere to for verifiers that someone new to the game would not be able to uphold, not to mention if we did need more verifiers are other active people in the community that we could pull from with much more experience. Sorry for the bad news, but that’s where things stand.
Are you unable to see any channels at all in the discord? There should be a #ssx3 channel under the game discussion tab. As for settings, you should be able to just use the default settings, though you may need to change the renderer from OpenGL to Direct3d11 hardware, I would not mess with much of anything else for SSX3 other than maybe upscaling the resolution if your computer can handle it. if you game lags with default settings, you may want to try dolphin instead.
As for a save file, there used to be a pal save but the link died so I removed it from the resources. I don't think there is currently any other save available unfortunately.
Emulator Rules
Last Rule Revision: 05/19/2021 Format Update: 5/7/2022
This post highlights the conditions and rules of the use of emulators within the Alpine Racer 3 speedrunning community. Furthermore, it will provide detail on all acceptable terms of use, as well as any limitations and/or conditions that may be put in place by the community to ensure fairness between emulator and console.
**By submitting a run using emulator the runner acknowledges the following: **
Emulation setting: • PCSX2 is the only allowed emulator Version 1.4 or 1.6
• Enable Fast CDVD IS allowed and is recommended for RTA runs.
• The emulator must maintain consistent FPS comparable to console play. Any major drop in FPS that causes lag (especially at crucial performance areas) may be grounds to invalidate a run for leaderboard purposes.
• Submitted runs that alter or replace game files in anyway (including textures) will be declined.
Input Display • Emulator runs that claim top 3 standing require a controller camera or input display. Example input display (Use browser source in OBS): https://gamepadviewer.com/
Save States • Runners may not abuse the emulator save state function for the purpose of resetting runs or during a run to get a better time. Save states should only be used for testing and routing purposes.
Extra • If at some point in the future the Alpine Racer 3 community decides that emulators are no longer acceptable for runs, all runs that are on emulator may be invalidated and removed from the leaderboards.
• RTA runs have console and emulators split into different categories
• Should a new advantage be discovered on emulator only, it will be up to the Alpine Racer 3 community to decide how to handle the situation in the fairest manner possible for both console and emulator players.
• New players submitting emulated times may be required to prove their skill level through hand-cam video footage or streaming a run at a similar level to their submitted run.
If you have any concerns, questions, or suggestions on these rules please contact Rithek or Kelecat.
GameCube emu is fine, however keep in mind that it is prone to being more laggy. Also note that any significant lag can make it so your run is invalid for the leaderboards. I'd recommend trying the PCSX2 emulator. You can find a detailed guide for installing and setting it up here: https://goo.gl/x1GmUi
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

Emulator Rules

Furthermore, it will provide detail on all acceptable terms of use, as well as any limitations and/or conditions that may be put in place by the community to ensure fairness between emulator and console.
By submitting a run using emulator the runner must abide by the following:
Emulator Settings • PCSX2 and Dolphin are the only allowed emulators
• The emulator must maintain consistent FPS comparable to console play. (60 FPS for NTSC - 50 FPS for PAL) Any major drop in FPS that causes lag (especially at crucial performance areas) may be grounds to invalidate a run for leaderboard purposes.
• Submitted runs that alter or replace game files in any way (including textures) will be declined.
Input Display • Emulator runs that claim top 3 standing require a controller camera or input display. Example input display (Use browser source in OBS): https://gamepadviewer.com/

Good news everyone, I believe I have figured out how to maintain a hand-plant fairly consistently (I just did the 8 second hand-plant twice in a row with this method).
Basically you let your character lean to a 40 degree angle and then start analog control inputs. The biggest mistake I was making in my prior attempts at this is I was holding the stick in the direction. From what I can tell it is a LOT easier if you just tap the stick in the opposite direction. After that it is just getting the rhythm down. I now believe that the hand-plant highlight is actually skill based. Additionally I think that 100% should be the category over 99%, especially considering 99% would still require a 5 second hand-plant anyways.
Hope to hear your guy’s thoughts on the matter and to see if this hand-plant method works for you guys as well.
Hey there SkiCrazedTeddy,
I’m glad to see you interested in running this great game :)
For the existing runs the rules for the most part are available by a drop down box... 425 snowflakes for example has the most fleshed out rule-set of all the categories. It even specifies when to start and stop the timer. Although I can see your concern with hitting the timer to complete a run before you know if you have gotten all of the requirements by the scoreboard, there are two main reasons I believe this is not a real problem. Firstly almost all split programs have a way to un-split the time and continue the run. And second by following the route of any given run MOST of the time you shouldn’t forget anything. I know I have never once forgotten a snowflake for example. As for the All Peak Race 898ppp has done a good job of explaining it, and it is done using in game timer… I will elaborate a bit more on the rule-set in the coming days. We just decided on new rules regarding accidental wipe-outs, and I will include a small note on pausing (of which only 2 small pauses will be allowed). Obviously it being a speedrun It would be preferred the pauses was not in a run, especially an emulated run as it puts the legitimacy a bit more into question.
Back to 100% as 898ppp has said select warps will absolutely not be banned, and frankly I think all other glitches will be allowed in this category (or 99% should we chose to axe the 8 second handplant).
All In all I will fix up the rules to make sure they are a lot clearer especially to new runners.
If you have any more concerns or questions I am more than happy to talk about it :)
Rithek
Hey there, I’m Rithek the apparently lone speed runner of SSX 3. I have made a detailed post on the SSX 3 forums here and attempt to contact the mods to set up categories and such; however I have not received any response in about a week and 5 days. Despite that I am here to request mod so that I can try to bring this great game the speedrun it deserves! Thanks for you time!
