Personally I could care less which one is used, other than the r4 vs. cart debacle. Playing on Wii U VC pretty much guarantees you will play much much worse since its vastly harder to PRB and generally play well. In terms of top ranking I don't think top time trial players have any trouble beating the existing Wii U VC times, even with the faster loads. Obviously I don't speak for everyone but I think in general playing on DS would be more overall beneficial since it's just way easier so you should go faster. I also don't see any way around this for 32 track rankings but I wouldn't mind if it is changed for cup rankings.
So TL;DR I don't care because DS being easier than Wii U should outweigh the benefit of faster loading times anyway
1st comparison is my DSiXL with a R4i Gold 3DS Plus vs an original DS with a normal cartridge. 2nd Comparison is with both normal cartridges.
As you can see, the flashcard has faster loads. Should this be allowed on the leaderboards? My shell cup wr uses a normal cart but my mushroom cup does not, and I think my 32 tracks run uses a flashcard as well.
Personally, I think flashcard/emulator should be disallowed for runs inside the top 5, to provide a level playing field at the very top. However, I think they are important to people to gain interest in the game so I would be against banning them outright. I would be willing to remove my mushroom cup run.
I'm aware the Wii U VC edition of the game also has faster loading times, but I'm more reserved about removing it since it is an official release of the game. It's a faster version but much harder to play on.
A solution I saw in some earlier threads was to just use IGT, but unfortunately that doesn't work well for 32 track or 16 track runs since VS mode does not track IGT.

Its stupid to require a proof rule in a game no one gives a fuck about, unless its wr. People barely want to play this anyway and a proof requirement might deter them even more. Of course, nobody plays the game anyway and it will be dead in 2 months so it doesn't matter either way.
^dumb rule. Nobody will ever come near my sea caves record and I don't care if they have videos if they don't beat it. Other than that I don't really care.
I agree that skipping the email verification step kinda takes away from the character of the run, but it's just a product of the game being trash. And taking it out entirely makes the run so even more boring than it already is, as it takes out an integral part of the run that made it so popular back in the CP days.
The point of speedrunning is to bring the time down as low as possible, so finding new things that make a run faster is a good thing. The only reason to make a new kind of "glitchless" category is if there is glitch found/used that completely breaks the game, or is clearly to the detriment of the player or community (e.g. super rng dependent, a run killer, just no fun for anybody.) Skipping the email verification through a process that is in the game does not change the essence of the run (to make an account and get banned as fast as possible,) so a new category is not warranted.
tl;dr its just the same category but without a step and with the dumb intro so no new category
