Yes, as soon as the Hardcore category is added; I don't see why it wouldn't be at this point. Just gotta get in touch with moderators.
Yes, I run Hardcore. I made a little 'route' for it a couple of days ago.
My PB is 40:46, ran on version 1.1.
Seeing as the interest in the category definitely grew (especially for me) I'm also for this category to be made. It alters the gameplay very much and forces much more change on the player compared to a chronoscepter run (though I still think that that should be a category too.)
Problem is the mods here are kind of inactive.
As of right now, the way I see it is that there's not enough runners of other difficulties to justify having categories for them. The same goes for Chronoscepter based speedruns.
I'm all for allowing the mod.
I think this is a huge contributor to putting people off running the game.
Running the game overall with increased performance, some more neat tricks only makes the run more interesting.
You will be missed! I know without you I wouldn't even be close to the level I am at now.
Good luck with your endeavours outside of speedrunning!
I personally really dislike the view of level leaderboards because it fucks up my personal page so full game leaderboards is something I approve of.
'Sup!
I've recently begun routing hard mode Reinhardt and I simply can't find any axes anywhere. The earliest axe I could find was either a drop from a Lizard in Foggy Lake or one of the dogs in Villa. After that, Castle Center is my best bet.
So what I do is I grab holy waters to block Bone Pillar fast fires and stuff but if I don't have level 3 axe by cog room the three Bone Pillar dudes on top of the gear will quickly annihilate me carrying nitro.
Anyone know where there might be axes elsewhere?
For Jill Rocket%, just take the any% splits and manually delete the Grenade Launcher split and you're good to go. :)
I think the last time this was discussed, the conclusion was it's not different enough from any% but I could totally be wrong on that because it's been quite a while.
The run only realistically adds like 3-4 minutes to any.
I doubt the mods here are very active though. Who knows. I personally would like this to be a category because it'd just look nicer.
I didn't realise I was blocked.
Anyways, combining two simple words in various sites' search bars can provide with amazing results. Especially if it starts with the title of the subject at hand, followed by a word that could imply improvements being made.
Looks like it's still up and has been up since last year. You might want to invest in a new shovel after all that digging.
Also, is it too much to ask to put everything in one post? :|
Thanks for adding this to the resources.
Also, 1.1 was never impossible to get ahold of. Once we started searching it literally took like five minutes to actually find it.
Coolio, I'll be setting up a Discord which is obviously optional if you want in or not.
The first race that comes to mind that should be fun is Chronoscepter% and Bingo. There's so many secrets in every goddamn level that Bingo should be viable, even though the game is generally fairly linear.
And of course, any% races is cool.
Peace.
Yo what is up my fast running dinosaur killing friends.
So, seeing to it as the community for this game has grown quite a bit (not something overly massive, but still!) I figured we could try and organize things such as weekly races and whatnot. Now, I don't know how many on the leaderboards are actually active runners at this point but I know we're atleast more than 3, and it'd be cool to get some races going with more people than 2, ya dig?
If there's interest I'd just say fuck it and set up a Discord channel or whatever for the community and we could host some weekend races or whatnot on either version, although 1.2 would be preferred because 1.0 is stupid and only usable for getting WRs, but anything goes you know what I'm sayin'?
Whaddya say, fam? I'd even be down for Hardcore Chronoscepter%.
I get major slowdown issues usually at the start of Ancient City as you run up the stairs, and possibly where there's lava/fire effects on the ground, like the end of level 4, but it's not too common.
I think my own issues are based on version 1.0, though. When I was playing around with 1.2 last night, I had no lag issues anywhere. (Knife jeeps when, night dive ;_;)
I play on default settings with v-sync off.
90% Consistent way of climbing that first wall, inspired by Slayer's previous post. Jump at the section where you see the wall stick out a little bit. If your jump goes below it, you'll get stuck. If you get above it, you'll warp upwards. No mid-air jumps required.
Submitted Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Remake for the PC, and also Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Carrie Any% as a backup.
What I forgot to add, though, is that I can do a Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness Henry% race with SluckySeven, who also submitted CV:LoD Henry (his idea), any way to edit that in?
You don't need to uninstall or unpatch your current Steam version if you download the game from the link up there.
It'll simply give you a game installer and after you've installed you're done. It doesn't run off any client or whatever.
Can confirm that is the fastest version up there.
If anyone's going for legit WRs, you probably want it. GOG has patched their version of the game now aswell, so as far as I'm aware, there's really no other way to obtain version 1.0, sadly. I've tried my best finding it.
You can do whatever, but realistically, the only optimal one for speed is Easy, because Normal enemies are far too aggressive and you take too much damage.
