I've been seeing great progress made on Duckstation, so i gave it a try and I have to say I am liking how it handles psx. Was wondering if this emu could become allowed at some point if the accuracy is great (Not sure how accurate it is right now, but it felt on par or better than espxe)?
As of today, the most accurate emulators i tried are Duckstation you mentioned (manage to emulate perfectly even games that are usually not handled by other emulators) and RetroArch with the mednafen based dll (this particularly interesting because you can set Disc Speed loading, x2 corresponding to Slow Disc in ps2 and x4 being Fast Disc reading of ps2).
Still even if people mentioned it a lot on the forum, emulators guidelines aren't being updated in years, so i almost have no hope for seeing emulators ppl helped at all. Wish you the best of luck on getting an answer from the community, i honestly have lost any hope of submitting any run on the board (totally not using epsxe after trying good emus).
Thanks, yeah I would like for the guidelines to be updated so I'm just shooting my shot and seeing what happens if anything :)
I agree that as emulators improve functionality that they should be reevaluated over time and that its probably time tbh
There are plenty of options for the presently allowed emulators. If you want a new one to be added, give us a report on its accuracy.
@Tortellino x4 runs faster than FDS, at least in testing Spyro 1. Mednafen is an allowed emulator. I don't see why you can't submit a run on that if you already like using the mednafen core in RA
@zacharylawrence smaller input delay. That's a huge thing to me. Retroarch feels way better than mednafen itself in commands recognition tbh. Basically i'm of the opinion that i'll either get a console at some point or just stop submitting if i never get one. This doesn't mean i have stopped running the games, they're still fun to me. Just on my own without external competition sadly
Edit was because i only tagged zachary but it was a completely different user :P
