Hello hello!
I've discovered that the "Sonic Boost" technique is heavily influenced by your PC's performance. Simply put, the better your hardware, the more of speed you gain, which can lead to a "pay to win" situation
To keep our community fair and competitive for everyone, I'm introducing two new categories:
- FPS Limited (capped at 120 FPS): This category sets a frame rate limit to ensure that high-end PCs don't provide an unfair edge.
- Pay to Win (no FPS limit): For those who want to maximize their setup, this category has no FPS cap, allowing you to fully utilize powerful hardware.
Don't worry, these changes won't affect any existing runs (they will by default stay in the FPS limit category) since no one has posted a run that takes full advantage of unlimited hardware yet. These new categories are here to ensure a level playing field and keep the competition fun and fair for all
Thanks for your understanding and happy speedrunning!
Hello everyone,
As the new and now only moderator of the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts page, I’ve noticed some categories are underutilized and could be simplified. Here’s a summary of my proposed changes:
Focus on a Single ‘Any %’ Category:
- Only one main category (‘Any %’) where runners choose their preferred difficulty without subcategorizing by difficulty level.
- This makes the game more accessible and prevents leaderboard fragmentation.
- Difficulty levels for older runs will now be simple annotations like "Marksman Only", "Deadeye only" instead of subcategories.
Rule Adjustment for Individual Level (IL) Runs:
- IL runs can be extracted from a classic Any % run, beginning after the cinematic skip.
- Timing will be based on Real-Time Attack (RTA), starting from the first frame post-cinematic and ending on the first frame of the mission completion screen.
- This ensures uniform timing, as current runs mix RTA and in-game time (IGT).
I’m open to creating specific subcategories for particular IL runs for example if a difficulty level notably changes the run, potentially even on a case-by-case basis. The key is to avoid overloading the leaderboard with unnecessary subcategories and ensure that any new categories serve a real purpose.
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions to create a better speedrunning experience for this game!
