Any% (No OoB) Tournament Information (2024)

Hey everyone! The annual Luigi's Mansion Any% (No OoB) tournament is back for the 9th year in a row. I'm pleased to announce we are once again partnering with SpeedGaming and are super grateful that they continue to host us after all these years! There are a couple of minor changes we're making this year, but the format is generally still the same.

For starters, in all of our previous tournaments we've only allowed runners playing on legitimate hardware to be able to enter. All of the mods have collectively agreed that it would be a good idea to open our tournaments to newer runners who might be using Emulator or USB Loading. So if you're a runner using some type of emulation and you have a time above a 1:05:00, you will be eligible to compete. We also believe this will help newer runners integrate themselves within the community.

We're sticking with the normal format of having a week long cap to get your matches done per round. When you and your opponent schedule a match, please stay committed to the date and time you and your opponent have set. If you need to reschedule, please let me or one of the other mods know so we can cancel that match. If you don't let a mod know that you need to reschedule and end up being a no show, you will be DQ'd from the tournament in its entirety. We ultimately have to remember that we're on SpeedGaming's time, and to have them setup a match and reserve a stream for us just to have it not happen is unacceptable. In past tournaments we've had quite a few no shows, but we're at a point now where that typically doesn't happen anymore. We still think it's a crucial point to bring up in the event that this does happen. If everyone has finished their match before the week is up, then we will proceed with the next round immediately. If you finish your match before the week is up, and your next opponent has also, then feel free to go ahead and do that match at any time.

We're once again calling on people with good knowledge and expertise of the game to sign-up for commentary. If you believe your personality would mesh well in a tournament setting then don't hesitate to sign-up! I should preface this section by saying that if you're unsure on whether or not you'll be able to commentate any matches at all, then please don't ask for the commentator role. We've had instances every year where people have said they'd be willing to commentate, and never end up commentating a single match. If you end up signing yourself up for a match, you are committed to commentating that match unless you have to cancel. If you end up having to take yourself off of the match, please let me or a mod know at least 24 hours in advance so we can find a suitable replacement. If you don't let a mod know that you can't make a match and end up being a no show, this will result in an immediate retraction of your commentary privileges. Commentary will once again be limited to two people per match. With that being said, if you want to sign-up for commentary, then shoot me a message on Discord.

When scheduling a match, please do it at least 24 hours in advance. This will ensure that we have enough time for SpeedGaming to find a stream to put us on and will give us enough time to comfortably find two commentators to sign-up for the match. As I'm sure most are already aware, but only one person between you and your opponent needs to schedule the match. We've also had situations in the past where people have needed to schedule and do their match in under 24 hours due to real life getting in the way. If this is the case, get with me privately first and we can try to get that set up without inconveniencing everyone.

This is also a free to enter tournament and there is no tentative prize pot, however if you would like to contribute something you can get with me and we can set that up. I've also been in talks with Flauke, and we're both willing to contribute $50 to the prize pot if we get at least 30 runners in this years tournament.

Listed below is a link to the Challonge bracket where you can sign-up. Like in previous years, the tournament is double elimination. Sign-ups are officially open, so you can register for the tournament at your discretion. You'll have two weeks from today to sign-up before the registration period ends. Sign-ups end on June 8th and the tournament will begin on June 10th. Best of luck to everyone competing!
