This is entered as Any% run, entered under the rules set by K0R8Z. This run was done before their category was created.

I considered one of the two times the run could end to be when the character's feet stop moving. One of these times is at 12:10:510, when I lost all control of my character ala Mario 64 speedruns. However, I consider the true time of this speedrun to be 10:49:270 because that's when my character's feet stopped moving against the Sanctuary Gate.

As I explain in the description of the YouTube video, the progress of the specimen is hard coded to progress at a certain rate, regardless of how many specimen containers you pick up. By picking up 8 containers, the gate starts to drop between 12:05 and 12:06, with pausing at any point resetting the interval to which the game checks to see if the specimen growth is at 100%. It is possible to reach over 100% growth before the gate opens if you pause, and all of this information comes from the developer of the game, Antonio Freyre.

I understand the choice for the speedrun to end when "WARNING: SPECIMEN REMOVED FROM BACKPACK” appears on screen, I personally prefer it ending when your character has stopped moving just before that, but with 8 containers, the game will always "end" at the same time under the right conditions, and the only variance is who is frame perfect and runs through the gate without hitting themselves against it. I don't believe this version of the run has much if any potential for growth as a speedrunning category.

That is why I think a separate category is needed for collecting 8 containers, and getting to the gate as fast as possible, which were the circumstances that my run was created under. This allows for further optimization and better routing instead of just waiting until you have 8 containers and when the gate is gone at 12:09, and whoever is frame perfect at running gets the best time or ties for it.
