Could we please add a Glitchless Category? And if so, what all do we constitute as the glitches that are used in Any%, or the game in general? I'd really like to try running this before I try Any% but I'd want to know what I can and can't do. I think this could be a fun and possibly interesting category for the community.

There is currently no demand in a glitchless category, and it's highly unlikely that there will be any in the near future. The use of any 'major' glitches in GTA IV is heavily limited and doesn't save nearly as much time as it does in the GTA games where that category is present.

Well I know that the Any% and 100% runs incorporate the Pistol Ammo Glitch which enables certain strats and the call timings to be optimal. I don't think there'd be any harm in adding a Glitchless category because it'd require different routing.

What are all of the actions performed in the current categories that are regarded as glitches? It'd be cool if we could have an agreed upon list for the community that distinguishes glitches and exploits.

I really only know of 2 main things regarded as glitches:

• Pistol NPC Ammo
• The Snow Storm Cop Car Explosion

yeah and of the two only one is a time save and only a minute or two over a good cop chase. the pistol ammo glitch is nice to have the extra ammo but you can easily kill the guys on bleed out with normal pistol drop and Jamacian heat will give you more pistol ammo than you will use in the rest of the game. I guess Final Destination shot from the ground is technically an exploit, and moltov drop on Late Checkout is definitely a glitch, as is window drop on peg's pride. none of these save a minute though

I'm sorry, I'm not trying t be contentious or anything, I just want to have a discussion. I just thought I'd propose the idea because I myself would like to try and run Glitchless before I try more complicated runs. I don't want to accidentally perform anything we'd regard as a glitch and invalidate a run. So regardless of whether or not we as a community agree to enact a "Glitchless" Category for runs here on the site; I do think that at least having a resource that specifies what we regard as glitches vs. exploits for example would be interesting and valuable.

you can do as many glitches (that are legal in a category) or not do them as you like and still submit an any% speedrun- I have never pulled off the Chinese Takeout skip in TBoGT and still submit to the any% board.

Personally I would just do low glitch or only as many glitches as you want to, and build from there, not worrying about if what you are doing is a glitch or not

Yeah, I definitely could within the bounds of Any%, and I guess I can try. I just know that without performing all the Glitches that the meta routes for Any% require, it's really unlikely that a run without them could ever be competitive enough for a top pace in Any%. That's what made me think of having a Glitchless category to begin with.

And still, regardless, I think it'd be cool and helpful and interesting if we could compile a list of all the Glitches/Exploits. I'm working on one myself but again I've really only identified those 2 main glitches in the Main Game.

GTA IV is not a glitch-heavy game, and there's nothing significant enough to warrant a Glitchless category. The glitches that do exist are not a very big timesave, and more WR level strats (i.e. duping) that you don't really need to worry about yet.
